CSF Intercooler

I am going with BEGis DIY turbo. Looking at the CSF intercooler. I have a 97 and will be installing a KOYO 53mm rad.

Appreciate comments on the construction and effectiveness of the CSF IC

Link? Not familiar with what that is.

Their story and info sound good. But one never knows. The alternative is to spend more $$$ on BEGi's entire kit.

I think the CSF IC is made in the US.

I thought they were out of business years ago?

My radiator is CSF.

Gotta love the info on their intercoolers:

Not sure what your goals are but have you seen our solution? Here is a link to the thread LINK

Bolt on - two different sizes and we now offer it in black:

Thanks. I do not know what in the hell I am doing. But do you have pictures of the inside of the IC. Also, is it a problem to bolt on with a KOYO 53mm rad.

concealer404 03-13-2014 05:52 PM

Intercooler goes in front or radiator. Bigger radiators get closer to the motor, not to bumper.

Correct. The radiator isn't ever a concern. Here is a photo of the inside.

For comparison's sake, here's a sloppy CX racing intercooler I cut up to change the direction of one of the outlets. Notice how the turbulators arent as consistent, some are all bent up, and the welds are occasionally blobby.

I have a 97. Only found IC for 90 - 95 at the web site. Did I miss it?

Yeah you read it wrong. It says 90-05 on the website, meaning 1990-2005.

Have you already ordered the KOYO 53mm radiator? If not I would highly suggest saving a good chunk of change and just ordering a generic aluminium one off ebay for about $120 shipped. It will work just as well along with freeing up money in the budget for other parts.

Oh come on that's not bad at all for a chinese core.

Fab9 uses Vibrant cores which should be nicer as can be seen in their pic. While I haven't held a vibrant core in person, I generally trust Vibrant parts. I even wear their Tshirt to work from time to time.

Jeffbucc 03-14-2014 10:27 AM

Having held the Fab9 in person, I can say it is a very nice core. I couldn't notice any defects at all. Wish I had it on my Jetta as well!

Plus the convenience of not having to mess with mounting brackets is incredibly nice. Literally takes a couple minutes to pop on.

I know this. I kind of added that in an edit because the original post looked more like, I was showing how the $120 intercooler was, for all intents (intensive ;)) and purposes, basically as good core wise as the vibrant. Now of course the china IC is probably twice as heavy, look how thick those end tanks are.

no.

It was text written by Cicero, who was GREEK.

You suggested it was Puerto Rican, which is not a language.

So I corrected you saying it was Greek.

If you had said something like, "I thought it was sanskrit," I would have said, "nope it's latin."

Using Lorem ipsum, which I learned you about, is referred to as Greek[ing]. FWIW, I am the GD/UI SME you requested, by trade.

You did not win this round. You sound like Hyper taking credit for the coolant reroute after we all schooled him on it.

I did never suggest anything than my last reply that it is not greek - which it isn't ;)

Cicero though he was Greek was a Roman philosopher.
To my humble knowlegde that is what Greek writing looks like
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1394814884

So the Lorem ipsum is written in Latin types and has some words that resemble a text in Latin by Cicero, but only some of the words, not the whole text. So for instance the word Lorem does not exist in Latin.

Apart from that - I couldn't care less if I am wrong or right, I just wanted to make a funny reply with my last answer...

Braineack 03-14-2014 12:39 PM

your reply sucked.

Don't leave you crazy german! Or at least kill yourself in a better way than that! Go out with a bang! Maybe fill your miata with glitter and crash it using allofit.

Crazy Grandpa 03-14-2014 02:23 PM

Thanks for the tip on the rad.

I am going to get the KOYO 53mm as extra protection for a coolant reroute. I was able to get it significantly below retail.
