I used some factory Miata exhaust manifold studs and nuts to mount the turbo to the manifold. I had to remove the turbo last night to do some maintenance. What I found is that both studs on the down pipe side seem to have fused with the nuts. You can see where the nut has stripped the threads from the stud (see photo, under the welds of 19 mm nut). This stud also fused itself to the turbo flange (but to a lesser extent). Is this common? I presume excessive heat had something to do with this as I had zero issues with studs on compressor side...
