That's cause we expect people to act like adults, and at least look like they're putting in the effort to gather the readily available info, instead of being like spoiled bratty children thinking that the forum is there to help them, and to cater to every single one of their needs, since "that's what we're here for..."

That's not what we're here for. We're here to discuss and share experiences, not regurgitate threads for every n00b who won't take the time to search. Besides, the lazy douchebags that we sometimes DO help, never end up ever helping anyone else or contributing in any way, cause they're still way too selfish, so you end up with the "core" group of members who have to help everyone over the years, and never even get any thanks for it. It just becomes a standard.

My time is way more important than yours

I personally think searching is way faster and easier than starting a new thread and waiting for a reply. But there have been situations where I had a specific question that is slightly different than the normal setup. I searched hard, and came up empty handed. Then I go to the forum and get flamed. Wtf.

At the end of the day, it is your responsibility to find/search the information you need BEFORE asking on here.

Ahhhh, I see where you're coming from. In a sense I was asking for a handout, so my bad there. However, I didn't feel so guilty because I feel like I've maybe helped just a few people out of the 4k plus viewers of the thread. Down the road I'd like to be a core member but I still lack A LOT of knowledge that I have yet to acquire. I feel like once I tackle the motor build, (and then blow it up, build it again, blow it up, v8 swap, boost the swap and blow it up and build LOL) i'll be able to help "noobs" when I see their post. But I hardly ever find myself browsing the forum to converse which I should get into sometime.

And living in North Dakota does not help. There is no way to actively engage this car like I'd want to out here. That's where the real sharing of experiences takes place and I very little track time under my belt but I'll make up for lost time when I relocate.

I'm 26 going on 27, and I just love my NB1 haha. I joined this forum because I knew over time, I'd need to search here; hence my low post count. I used to do a lot of searching but still not enough haha.

Now I'm sad because this thread is 3 pages deep but the last page and then some, is rants about being selfish and replies to rants. haha

Hey now, it can be faster and easier if you click the right thread the first time. but 1 out of 5 will be question and search noob answer.

NOW BACK ON TRACK!

I'd like to keep the clutter to a minimum on the thread because no one (or maybe just lazy ol me) wants to search through 80 pages of a thread looking for my additions. I'd prefer any replies here on out be in regards to the original post or maybe a good 1.8 build write up.

Everything else including "search ------" can gladly be sent my inbox where I will reply and we can discuss time wasted (beating a dead horse for fun) lol.

I'm here for y'all. and have a turbo kitten day.

*o0o0oo0 and just to troll a little. A rare and still new HKS top mount cast manifold for the 1.8 came to my place today. It's going on the gf's 05 speed
*Also PM if you know where to come across anymore miataturbo.net lanyards. I'd love to get a few more, mine is filthy
*Also if anyone has a spare set of the Flyin' Miata mechanics gloves they want to sell, let me know. Mine were stolen from my garage years ago and they've been discontinued for a while

If you read all of the above, you're a trooper.

Because I am in a nice mood I will give you a quick rundown on what parts to use in a built motor. 8.6:1 84mm Supertech pistons with weisco rings. Any forged rods with ARP2000 rod bolts. Boundary Engineering oil pump. All OEM gaskets. ARP head studs, ARP main studs if you feel like it. ATI or 949 Damper. ACL bearings. Then throw on whatever head you want to use. My real suggestion is to just order a built short block from TrackSpeed Engineering. It will be built correctly and you won't have to worry about it again.

Shuiend.

Thank you man. That looks like some solid parts and thanks for the lead on the built block. (not knocking on the parts list in earlier reply)

I'll look into all that. So much of me wants to Go v8 haha but i love the BP4W and it's simplicity.

Did I miss something on my list of 38 things to buy, just one page ago? . Did you even read it??? Oh yeah, just buy the long block.

I did read through the list and I did say i respect that reply. Meaning we were past the "screw you" and defending myself posts that led up to that.

I just didn't type a sincere thanks because I was still having to explain some other things said before the post.

That's why in the response to shuiend, I said "(not knocking the parts in the earlier reply) I was referring to your post. Both post required effort and experience and that is what I'm thankful for.

Hope that makes sense. I have more than enough to go off of now for parts and expected machine work.

I do not plan to go the built block route for the reasons of wanting to make a write up of the entire 1.8 tear down and rebuild process. It will be a good picture full thread when that time comes.

Again, I am thankful for any responses to my question.

I was just messing with you.

Why don't you document the rebuild with pistons and rods? Or just rods? The price after the machine work for a standard rebuild is nominal.

All y'all and the messing with me thing. Lol.

Because there will be someone brand new to the miata, they will come on the forum and When they put up their "how much power can the 1.8 handle stock?", "anyone rebuilt the 1.8?" , "what parts and prices for a good 1.8 build" posts, maybe my spoon fed thread will be a quick response. And then of course when it's searched, maybe mine will show up on the first page.

Every build will be different. But I'm okay with taking mine slow and taking pics every step of the way to aid someone else.

Although, I've been really contemplating just saving up for the LS swap lol. North Dakota gives you a lot of down time in the winter

I'm definitely one of those "free-loaders" to this forum, and have been for months.

the original intent of this thread (and its quick side-quest) is excellent and very, very informative.

to the OP - continue to raise the bar of helpful and informative threads/comments - noobs like myself just getting ankle-deep into this ocean appreciate it!!!!

Now... We need more updates!

Appreciate it and I was also in those shoes back in 2011 when I first boosted this car. Thanks to the forum i ended up with a megasquirt over a voodoo box/trigger wheel lol.

Updates huh: car is still the same pretty much. I have a PTP turbo blanket i have yet to install. Any more progress is on hold due to a recent impulse buy. I picked up an all original 2000 special edition Miata. It's already back up for sale as I can see myself ruining it haha.

I started cleaning the original bp4w as it was leaking all over. Once I get my hoist back from a friend, I'll begin the tear down of that. Just can't get too carried away as I am moving locally in 2 months.

Bump for turbo miata goodness

Bump for this. Quick update: sold the car back in the fall. Never got a chance to put it on a dyno. Was able to pull off a 0-60 time of 5 seconds on the setup. Videos to back this up.

I now have a 05 mazdaspeed with a little enchilada kit and some other goodies.

more to come though!!

congrats on the MSM, they are awesome.

You need to get megasquirt, the stock ECU is horrible, i had an msm with little enchilada, it was great, but the stock ECU would go full retard on timing and would pull fuel all the time when accelerating hard, so here i have 10lbs of boost and almost no power. hated the ecu so much i sold the car.

Even though I do not own this car anymore (it's actually being parted out now :/ ) I wanted to make a small collection of clips of the car over the time I had it. End result being the launch and flatshift videos of course.

More videos to come soon of the mazdaspeed
