i know there were lots of homebrew mani's built on here and i am building my own as well and just want some input and discussions on materials and choices i made...

i have no fancy cad drawings or anything other than an idea in my head and a few scetches on paper and i am not sharing those since im as talented at drawing as lindsay lohan is at acting...so you just have to wait for a rough sample to be made...

my first mani will use the stock head flange and 304 stainless runners...
i have not seen anyone have the same design as i have in my head, so its really hard to describe what it is that i want to build, but hopefully everyone will see soon

Outside Diameter 1.900"
Wall Thickness 0.145"
Inside Diameter 1.610"

basically its advertised as SCH40 1.5" but the inside diameter says it is 1.610" not 1.5", anyone have any input on this, is this normal, do they just call it 1.5" to round it up?

i hope to have it roughed up by the end of feb. and then welded up nicely by someone who knows what the hell they are doing...

any suggestions on where to get 304 1.5 butt welds for a good price feel free to contribute...

Are you doing this to save $$$, to make a better manifold than is available, or doing it for the sake of doing it?

You probably won't save much going this route over buying a used BEGi or FM manifold. That's the reason I'm rocking the BEGi unit, it was only about $80 more expensive. Of course, if you are using a stock flange that cuts the price considerably.

Acestainless.com will have your weld fittings, mcmaster has them too.

He will make a BP Flange provided a gasket. He has a B6 flange in stock.

 

Using mild steel you can make a manifold for 50 bucks.

 

mcmastercarr for weld-els. They're expensive though. :(

 

acestainless is cheaper for butt welds, SS or mild...

Check if you have one of these local to you. They can get both mild and stainless sch 40 weldels. You'll have to compare shipping and price difference and all that but they can get both. My local one keeps mild fittings in stock.

 

I wouldn't recommend mixing mild with stainless steel. I'd recommend just sticking to a JGS Tools turbo manifold kit.

if i got stuff from JGS i would still have to source stuff in addition to their advanced kit to make the mani the way i want it...

I can get 3/8" head flanges for like $24 a piece in mild steel plus shipping. It would require a order of like 10 though. We could also order the turbo flanges at the same time real cheap.
