Default Engine cooling fan wiring


Hey guys im having a bit of trouble cooling my motor. My current setup is a '99 motor and chassis with an evo 8 ecu as a piggyback blah blah blah boost.

So my final issue with the whole going boost is cooling the motor. So my '99 miata ecu no longer uses the coolant temperature sensor since the evo 8 ecu is now in control of reading the coolant temp. It is because of this fact that my radiator fan will no longer come on.

So I figured that I would hardwire the fan itself to a spst switch while utilizing the 12v power source from my non-existent power window motors(base model nb problems). So I found this ecu pin out diagram so I can figure out which wire to tap into.

I tried tapping into the R/G wire and it did not work. Is there something that im missing?
Can anyone provide me with some solid advice on how to get my fans to work?

The relay triggers on ground, not 12v.

derp, well that definitely explains alot. So I would hook the R/G wire to the ground, so then what would I hook the acessory wire to?

Well it looks like my fan motor blew so I guess I am getting a new one hopefully next week. I tried rewiring it and using a different switch and it still did not work so I tried to wire it straight to a 12v source without a switch and nothing still happened. Is it possible that I may have blown the fan motor by wiring it incorrectly??

Doubt your fan motor blew. One wire from the fan is always hot, goes directly to the battery. The other wire from the fan goes to the relay in the engine bay fusebox, that switches to ground when on. There's also a 30(?) amp fuse in line.

Stop connecting 12v to stuff.
