FM turbo kit don't make power?
Hi everyone again im a noob on turbo miata. I did some research I got a FM2 kit with link for managment. I'm currently running around 180whp at 10psi. My goal is pretty simple, I want 250whp in quick spool and low psi, i wanna keep it all 10-14psi range. Now my question is, what should i upgrade? Or should i not use FM kit and go for something else.

Can you give us less information so we can make a less-informed determination?

Typical FM2/2560 on a 1.8 should produce 250rwhp at 14psi & quick spool easily with proper tuning and exhaust.
Instead of going with a different kit, fix what you have. |
Toon it. You need a gud toon.

1.6L or 1.8L?

Sorry about the info. Yes it is a 1.8L with all bolt on high flow cat and 3" exhaust.
Since the place I live which is seattle, washington. There's not many tuning shop that knows how to tune. |

What year car do you have as the links for the 99+ miatas are junk and fm says dont run more then 9psi or you run the risk of blowing your motor from knock. So if you can fill out your sig.
Year stock engine or built engine any other mods to the engine size of injectors size of turbo standalone or piggy back Also any other info that might help the great people on this website to help you with your questions. If you do this Hustler might not rip your head off. |
I think it would be best if you disconnected the link and upped the boost. To keep it from detonation, just use that "octane in a bottle" stuff. The link is a very slow ecu and boost is what makes you fast. If the link can't handle more boost, don't use it. Just rely on simple mechanical solutions- not fancy electronics.

2x. My initial tune ran only 140whp on the dyno and couldnt slip the tires on 1st at wot (6psi). Now with my own tune (still 6psi), i'm slipping the tires on 3rd when i floor it.

You are supposed to put RUBBER on the WHEELS.
Also are you talking about this stuff? :P http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:t...s/58/1.jpg&t=1 |
Unless you're talking about in the rain/snow/ice there is just no way you should be getting loose in 3rd on 6psi. I'm at 15+psi on a 30r with shit tires and even my car barely steps out in 3rd when its dry (and even then only when its cold).

I think he's mistaken 3rd for 1st :giggle:

You don't need a Hydra. You do need to find out your injector sizing, though.
Have you read the DIY FAQ thread? You might fing it helpful. I would contemplate upgrading to a Braineak built MegaSquirt for a more comprehensive budget ECU, or an AEM if your pockets are a little deeper. What size intercooler are you currently using? |
Need to find out size of your injectors and also what are you running for an exhaust. If its stock then that's the next thing you need to look into to make any more power. Also like sixshooter said go with a better standalone the mspnp is now only $5XX.00. so if your looking for cheap and don't want to wait you can do that.
