Default gt25 & gt28 feed port thread same: oil restrictor

realized i forgot about the oil restrictor.

im looking at this one on ebay its has a 0.035" hole size would be be ok to run with my 2554? It also says its for the gt28 and says nothing about the gt25, my main question is does anyone know if the thread size for the feed hole is the same for the 25 and 28?

Or do you guys think i need one, looking at the feed port it looks like it has some kind of functional restrictor but i dont know if its enough thats why i come to you all.

heres what i think is the built in oil restrictor?

OBX TURBO OIL FEED RESTRICTOR FITTING -4AN GT30R GT35R:eBay Motors (item 160348636476 end time Jul-20-09 16:37:19 PDT)

thats the inverted flare. not a restrictor. I'm willing to bet both turbos are 7/16-24 inverted flare fittings, since they share the same chra.

I think the one you listed and the one i listed are exactly same, i mean they are both inverted, if you look at the pics on the ebay ad it shows the bottem side is inverted, just doesnt list it i guess

My custom GT3076r (it is a blend of GT3076 and GT3071 with wastegate mods) has a built in restrictor, within the cartridge I believe. I only found this out after having purchased 2 additional line restrictors The supplier of the turbo said that unless I was running unusually high oil pressure they did not recommend an additional restrictor so both are sat in a draw.

I don't know if this applies to all Garrett ball bearing turbos, I'll see if I can find the email from the tech department of the company I purchased it from, but it is worth ensuring that there is not one fitted.

The one built into the turbo is 0.04" (1mm). The 2 restrictors I bought from that website were 0.035".

The larger turbo's like GT30 and the like need less restriction than the T25-based turbo's. So I think 0.035" is a little small for a GT30. It _is_ the right size for GT2554/GT2560.

0.035" does seem a bit small when you read Garretts website. I never used the additional 0.035" restrictors. Turbo was left as supplied with the inbuilt 0.04" restrictor.
