Default HELP 1.6 wont go into boost!

So i have a 1992 miata with a diy turbo kit that I got off of eBay. I'm running megasquirt, and rx8 injectors other than that it's pretty much stock. I finally got everything all bolted on and ready to go. Got the tune right I can drive it around but as soon as I give it a certain amount of throttle it starts to die. Dosnt matter what rpm it is. I could be at idle and floor it and it will just die.... I tried getting colder spark plugs (NGK BKR7E) and still nothing. Not even 1 psi of boost and I cannot push the throttle down past a certain point without it dying. Once it starts dying I can keep it from dying if i go back past that point in the throttle. Could very well be a tune issue as I'm not 100% sure what I'm doimg when it comes to megasquirt and tuning in general. Any help would be great. I'm completely stumped and just want this thing to run properly! Thanks!

Photos, specific link to ebay kit, link to whatever rx8 injectors you got, tune and log from your megasquirt would be helpful.

um... what does the wideband gauge say when it start dying?

do you even have a wideband??

what makes you think that you "got the tune right"? sounds like a tune problem to me.

The EXACT ad from which the injectors were purchased, and as already stated:

1. What model MS and where did you get it
2. what wide band
3. what base map did you use

we need the tune and a data log from when the problem occurs.

How To DATA Log

upper tab in Tuner Studio, hit DATA LOGGING
Next, give the log a name and a file location you will remember- hit ENTER.....You are now recording a data log.

To End A DATA Log-

hit the data log tab again
click - stop logging

you now have captured a data log. we need that.

Oh, and this.......

Is this gonna turn into another MT Bohemian Rhapsody thread?

pls?

Dear OP:

I have a good feeling that many a roast will be coming your direction. This forum will help you, however you can't expect many answers when you haven't provided much information aside from the bare basics.

Like the others say, post a Log of what's happening and your tune file as the bare minimum of information - without these two it's quite useless to diagnose while assuming everything about everything.
You say it's tuned but it will die after pressing the throttle, this is very much not tuned. Standalone ECU's are not like modern cars where flashing an OTS tune solves 90% of your problems. It involves trial and error, but most of all critical thinking and troubleshooting.

Try with the basics:
  1. Have you gone through VEAnalyze and even roughly dialled in your VE table?
  2. Have you put in the correct base-map to start with? Even if you have, a basemap is not a complete tune for your setup.
  3. I pray you have a wideband wired in, how are your AFR's when your problems are happening
  4. Take logs, Post logs, pls

I'm new around here and honestly surprised that some of the smartest people around here even acknowledged your post.
You basically met a pretty girl in the street dropped your pants and asked for a handy!!..
No hello, my name is, my goals are, I'm from........ etc. etc.

Do yourself a favor and introduce yourself the right way (meet and great section is there for a reason) and ask your questions once the warm fuzzies are exchanged. You'll no doubt find the answers your looking for since this site has the smartest miata enthusiasts around.

Read read and read more. In google type miataturbo.net + whatever your question is. You are NOT the first person to have the problem you are having trust me. Good luck and hope you get it up and running soon.

I one time hooked up my IAT sensor wrong. The MS picked up that it was missing a sensor and would turn on a fuel cut as soon as the MAP saw boost. Its probably not the issue but check that your IAT sensor is hooked up properly.
