one of these days im going to put my garret turbine/shaft and compressor wheel in the ebay CHRA...

That is the whole idea! If it fails, it is cheap to replace.

Of the units we have sold, two have suspected problems. One, in the UK, which the owner has refused to send back for testing. We will probably never know about that one. The second just got shipped out for testing. I should know more in a few days. I am told if it is a defective turbo from the factory, they will just replace it with a brand new one. Possible/potential 2.9% fail rate if I count the one in the UK. If I do not count it, 1.5% potential fail rate. I'd play those odds. :)

Do you guys offer a china version of a 30r?

I can get:
1. 3076 with T25 flanges, and externally gated. 0.86 a/r.
2. 3076 with T25 flanges, and internally gated. 0.86 a/r.

We have used the 2871 equivilent also. But no 3071 turbo.

What was the spool like on the 2871? Have you used the china 3076? If so, what was the spool like?

na8psi 04-20-2010 02:39 PM

ive seen it suggested that the china t3/t04e .50 trim is similar to a 30r, experts correct me if im wrong

That seems like kind of a shitty combo. Tiny T2 inlet on a .64ar turbine housing combined with (what appears to be) a t04e compressor wheel.... So it would....spool poorly because of the large compressor and....have a shitty top end because of the tiny turbine housing.

Skip it.

(question directed to jeff)
Sorry to thread jack, but I am curious, that turbo you have which I also own is it comparable to a 30r?

Also very interested.

The t28 your wondering about is great!!! I have ran one for about 500 miles now and its good, but my buddy has had one for a while now. The only problem he has had is that a bolt sheard off into the exaust housing. But the turbo works great!!!

that's interesting to hear becaue the specs are very close to the garrett 2876r here are the maps for that http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...R_705330_1.htm

.64ar :ne: .86 ar

.64ar on a t25 is roughly equivalent to a .48ar on a t3...except, you know, smaller. I have no doubt that the garrett model with a .86ar would be a good match, but tiny turbine + tiny ar + BIG compressor = a bad combo.

Edit: To clarify, the turbo in the ebay listing comes with a .64ar housing, while the standard garrett 2876r comes with a .86ar housing.

I'm trying to keep my post count low until I get my car Turbo'd but hell... this is some funny shit. Anyone who changes turbo's on the side of the road is seriously bad ass..... hahaha awesome.

Wouldn't be very hard once it cooled off. I can remove the thing completely in about 15 minutes.

Funny, my oldest cat has gotten into a bad habit of where she does try to take chicken off my dinner plate (she gets super excited when I bring home charbroiled chicken), and she did take a chip off my plate once when I was sipping on a margarita while enjoy fajitas & salsa.

We have not dyno'd a Chinese 2871 yet. There are a few being used, but no dyno sheets have filtered back to me. No idea what spool was like, sorry.

We did receive our first confirmation of a Chinese turbo failure today. It is being replaced under warranty. Customer gets a brand new turbo. Other than it has excessive shaft play I do not know specific details, other than it failed.

I'm making more torque on this chinacharger than ever before...doesn't help that it's a smaller compressor, but just sayin!

Brain, exactly which churbo are you using?
On your 1.6 right?
LINK! ;)

Thanks<3
