Default How much would you throw down for a SR20 T25?

I'm in the turbo hunting stage of my build, and I'm looking into used SR20 turbos. It looks like from $150-$200 is what people are asking for ones that apparently have "no play" but I'll believe that when I see them. Does this sound about right for these? I've heard stories of *******s who throw them out! So I feel like I may be missing something.

I've narrowed it down between this(see above), a chinacharger T25 at around $220 (exact same specs as gt2560, minus the R), or replacing the center housing of my fucked up but real gt2560r for around $420.

Thoughts, opinions, attacks?

I paid 175 shipped for mine, it was a freshly rebuilt unit.

Id pay the 420 and just get your GT2560R a new CHRA.

I paid 200 shipped for a supposedly rebuilt in the last x,xxx miles one. Maybe I jumped too soon, but it is done. It seems OK play-wise.

i basicly through one of mine out. it was a paper weight for a few years. just finally rebuilt it for use on the miata... my second one i had kcikin around was slightly damage and i sold it for $15

you can find them for cheap. get a blown one and rebuild it yourself for an extra 100 bucks. its easy

I paid 200 I think for one that was supposedly "no shaft play, low miles" and it had tons of shaft play and the inside of the compressor housing was coated in oil.

After another 80 for the rebuild kit I officially got a bad deal on my sr20. 200 is fair for a freshly rebuilt one imo.

I paid $100 for my from a guy with a 240 back in Septemeber 07. If you post on a drift forum you should be able to find one for around that price.

I posted up an ad on the local Nissan forum.. Grabbed one for 70$CDN

No shaft play which was a plus. Not sure about the oil seals. Seems ok. We'll see when its installed. Right now its being a pain trying to make this work. Every problem I solve, another problem arises with fitment.

I paid $100 for a fairly clean S14 T25. Minimal shaft play, but I just took off the exhaust housing and noticed oil all over the back plate and the turbine wheel. So I'm going to rebuild it.

I paid $200 for my freshly rebuilt one off an sr20. They're on ebay all the time, I just had to be patient until a good one came up. took about a month of waiting but the offer did come and was one helluva buy. it works great

Thanks for all of the info. I'm leaning towards 240 to miata's advice. It looks like I can get a fubared T28 for a good price, and then just rebuild it myself, that looks like the cheapest and safest option.

With that said, $180 for a rebuilt (with documentation) T25 isn't astronomical. Problem is the T25 is on the small side for my goals, and if I had the T28 I could try higher boost before replacing the chra in my 2560r when funds allow it. I'm leaning towards cheap and dirty boost to start with .

You do know the S14 SR20DET came with a T28 right? If you do indeed have a T25, it's from a redtop or blacktop S13 SR20DET...

I bought my SR20 T25 on ebay for $200? I seemed ok, but I didn't trust it, so I rebuilt it with a kit from: Turbo Rebuild Kits
I used a thread on here, pretty sure it was by SamNavy, SEARCH FOR IT. I followed it pretty much to a T. It was simple to rebuild my turbo, cost me about $80, and I have been running it now for over 20,000 miles.
I have an SR20 CHRA and a compressor if you're interested.
