"How to turbo your Miata over the weekend with zero research into how anyone has ever in the history of Miatas successfully turbo'd their Miata"

Hey, it works... I give him credit for that. How well and for how long I don't know.

Nonono, he didn't want aluminum shavings ruining his engine. Good luck driving that time bomb!

New guy here, trying not to suck. Can someone give me a quick rundown of everything he did wrong? Aside from the redneck-meets-German-engineer oil setup.

Crappy turbo kit - manifold prone to cracking
Improper location of BOV with stock ECU (fixed later in video)
Stock ECU
Meth with stock ECU
Making a shitty manifold even shittier with that bent plate welded in, instead of rerouting the coolant line

I haven't watched the video since this post was made, so I'm probably forgetting a lot more.

I think it is a new CXRacing turbo setup. Not sure if they will crack or not, but not the normal eBay setup. From the few pictures I have see they look stout, but of an interesting design.

One day in the future I am hoping to get one to test out.

Why would you even gamble like that? Its like this, An unproven cx kit vs. One that actually works, built by a site supporter.

The car in this video didn't even make 200whp.
It got spanked by a Hyundai Genesis, with a 3000gt making him look even worse.
The only thing that makes this car LOOK quick is the mid 15 second SN95 GT he ran.

This thing may be a mid 14 second car, look out everyone.

180hp woulf still be double stock at the rear wheels. Not an insignificant increase.and enough for a lot of people to be happy. Heck, my friend is having a blast with his and I would bet on it putting down less than 140whp. Sure as heck is faster than my stock 1.6. (Not that that says much).

Because the you cant get a MK Turbo kit now, im not going to wait months for a kit once im ready to install. like i said if the darn megasquirt would cooperate then i would place my order for the CX kit.

If your MS is giving you trouble, you aren't even close to needing a turbo yet. NOT EVEN CLOSE. AS in months away. Just wait, wait and get good stuff.
Go look at my build. I don't know what the hell I'm doing with ms. I thought I did, but I dont. Now I have a nice looking project, wthout a brain. At this point, I've got so much money wrapped up into it, and so ltitle understanding of the ms, it's not fun. I don't want to melt this thing down to learn how to tune.

Don't end up like me.

I do hope to get a MK kit but i am not going to let that stop me IF i am ready, like you said i probably wont be.
