MSM core size is 8.5 x 8.5 x 2.5. And I've read that the header tank design/core design is really really good.

Good in reference to the FM intercooler or the MSM one? I'm assuming the MSM?

By good I meant that the pressure loss through it is not very high for its size. Corky Bell has apparently measured it to be very small.

FM admit that in their MSM-replacement intercooler description:

"While you won't get higher boost simply from installing this intercooler, you will get lower intake temperatures."

So for low to medium boost I dont see why its not a good choice.
