If you're gonna go FMIC, might as well do it right the first time. Then you won't need to upgrade the IC again when you put in a bigger turbo (which you will).

Looks good. Its gonna be tough to get that piping over the rad.

Also the piping diameter and ample intercooler size will be just fine. Lag will not be an issue.

I just went with this intercooler on my car too. I got it from cxracing via "make an offer" on ebay. Something around $190 shipped. Mines 2.5" in and out. It is BIG. woah.

I'm thinking I could just move the radiator back the 3" I need and slip the intercooler between the rad. support and the radiator. It'd be real close to the sway bar. Then use some slim lowprofile aftermarket fans. That way I get to keep my A/C and not have to worry as much about clearing the hood, or do i have to take off my bumper, or worry about rigging a hood latch.

you're gonna want to consider a bigger front mount.

(if you intend to live in it)

I took this to show you how big the fmic actually is

heres Mr. HKS Manifold(thanks hrach) and Mr. T25 cuddling. Narbie I'm also going to order those APR studs & nuts thanks again.

Here is where I'm going to run the FMIC pipes through my Radiator support

Here is the goal... I'm going to run a over the top mount FMIC.

What makes this fmic difficult to install besides the fact that it's huge.. is that there are no kits like this for the miata. So I'm making it from scratch... I'm currently taking a few welding classes and I'm going to be attending a Tig welding class next sem so this shouldn't be too difficult to make.

Here's what my car looked like when I picked her up (1994 Miata 1.8L) $1500

and here it is today

heres all the junk I had to take out...

You can see the door and the stock suspension

this is all the glass from the broken window from the door and other stuff in the car I cleaned out.

about that quarter panel...how did you repair/replace it? because i made a boo boo with my car and am in need of replacing the entire quarter panel (theres a pic in my album) ... its a bi**h .. im earning my ASE certificate in auto collision repair but thats one hell of a project to start with and i have no clue what im about to walk into if you have any insight

Holy blast from the past. You brought back a thread almost 5 years old in the DIY turbo section to ask about clearance and body work?!?

ha ya, its lose lose if you can't find the answer your looking for by searching, but better to be searching and bringing up old stuff than just posting random new threads i suppose. Hopefully somebody will be able to help you out.

Did you mean headlight to tail light? I'm pretty good at pulling dents so the front fender may be salvageable but the door is practically untouched minus one little dinge on the very edge that can be fixed with a pair of plyers its the quarter that's gonna give me hell. Thanks for the support btw.
