Since I'm too cheap to buy corky's $150 radiator scoop I made my own.

I went to Ace Hardware and spent $4.50 on a sheet of 8x24" 22g stainless steel. The I proceeded to bend it into the shape I deisred. Then I drilled some holes and bolted it to the bottom of my intercooler.

Now it should scavange more air traveling below the car into the radiator. I wanted to do this since I started running hot on the track and wanted to do a little extra to get more air to the radiator. Otherwise I had my undercover preventing any extra air onto the radiator from below. My undercover bolts to the same holes so it should be sealed up fairly well and I should see good results on the track.

I also got to work on upgrading my silicone and clamps!

I'm seeing more people with a FMIC do this. It'll be interesting to find out how well it works on the track.

 

I got the idea from a racer who I was camping with that weekend. He was running hot after making a new undercover from his Mustang race car. Since mustangs are bottom feeders, he cut off a lot of the air supply and it started boiling over after 15 minutes on the track. So in the pits the cut out a large U shape and bent it down vertically to force air into the radiator, it ran cool the rest of the weekend.

I also forgot to reinstall my undertry that weekend so that hurt me, but this cant hurt.

I like to make things too. I ordered a manual boost controller yesterday, but couldn't wait. So I went to the hardware store and made my own. WOW. Of course I am getting more pressure but also boost comes in much earlier. I purchased my vehicle with the turbo already installed, but I am having so much fun monkeying around, I wish I had done it myself.
