Smile i made boost today....didn't last long

after five months of construction i started(jumpstart;dead battery) up the old miata. it made boost , however my temporary, diy over the top charge pipe blew apart . I expected this part to hold up longer than five minutes. in another week or so i'll get the proper part and truly be done with it. other than that everything seems to function nicely. after i road test it i'll post some pics.

Foil? I've never seen aluminum pipes break under boost. Where would you get aluminum pipe that thin?

I think someone used duraweld to weld pipefittings to their ghetto-cooler.

The aluminum soldering rods that you use with a propane torch aren't all they're cracked up to be. (pun intended) I used the "Muggy-Weld" brand product to attach my BOV and idle bypass hoses to my original aluminum up-pipe. Neither was under stress, they just had hoses hanging off them. After a week the BOV flange fell off. I re-ground the pipe and re-attached it, and a few days later the idle bypass flange fell off.

At that point I tossed the stuff in the trash, built a new up-pipe from a piece of mandrel-bent 16ga exhaust tube, and MIG welded some new fittings onto it. Eight months and still holding strong.

Bro try cutting that section of the hood.. that should give you about a good 2 inches of clearance.

also what I mean by cutting is the inside metal of the hood.. not the actual hood. I'm going to be doing this in about a week so I'll post pics if you're interested.
