Default Idle Bypass

How have you guys connected this? Do I need to connect it to the IC pipe on the cold side or would a small filter on the end of the hose work?

Trying to think of options since that is next on the list before boosting. My project is getting set back 2 weeks (1 paycheck) because I'm getting my CCL next weekend and I'm going to spend part of my car budget on the class/fees.

With megasquirt you can just put a small filter on it since you are running off IAT sensor.

that's what I figured but I didn't know if that would create other problems.

I think you meant MAP sensor... the IAT sensor is used whether you run off MS or stock ECU.

pulling up an old thread to see if anyone is doing this. It would save me a little bit of trouble if I don't need to plumb the idle air valve into the pipe between the intercooler and throttle body.

I am running a megasquirt.

you don't. it would be preferable to run a small filter on the line, but it doesn't need to source air from the pipes since you are MAP based now.

So, since my MS is coming with the MAP upgrade, I shouldnt worry about weather or not my IAC is any good?

You still need a working IAC valve. The MS will control it so that thou may idle properly.

If you meant IAT, then yeah, you should have one of those too, although it's preferable to install an open-element GM style sensor post-intercooler, rather than using the factory sensor.

plumbing the idle air into the intake pipe was actually pretty easy. I used some 5/8" heater hose and a few fittings from the hardware store... brazed the brass fittings to the steel pipes and all is well.

This will definitely make life easier, I'll be running to the autoparts store after work to find a cheap filter for it.
