Bump for more thoughts?

I have decided to go with a 64mm Skunks TB for ease of daily drive ability. I will modify the Honda intake to accept this TB as well as my custom intake and do a same day Flat top vs Honda vs custom shootout. Any predictions?

The Junk2 throttle body has its own pluses and minuses. That reminds me I need to email their engineer again with another issue I've had with it that should be addressed. I still think finding an OEM used throttle body in ~ the correct size with an integrated iac would be better than a miata specific TB.

I'll be watching this thread. Nothing to add, I think proper IM design is a black art and most settle for a compromise while others bolt up other parts and/or change up the setup when doing this so the results have to be taken with a grain of salt. Then there's the whole reliability and drivebability issue: some setups cracked, some are still working, etc.

So far FM and maybe a handful of others have done a relatively fair test on this stuff, with back to back testing with all other variables kept as constant as possible.

In for results

I will be assembling the intake manifold next week....I would love to hear from someone who knows if I am making a big mistake! Otherwise, I will be spending the coin on "tuition to life" as I like to say. As long as I learn something I guess it will not be a bad thing. God knows I have spent money on stupider **** than this....remember that time in Mexico?

You're stepping up to life university here. I think you'll be fine. With a turbo car its hard to **** up royally with the intake manifold. Though its still hard to get something better than stockish. At worst you might loose some low end to gain to top end while dropping 5-10 pounds off the nose of the car.

Any update on this?

In regards to the "2x - 8x" cylinder volume as plenum size discussion, is this why ITBs seem to do so well? The world is your plenum? (naturally aspirated)

ITBs have no plenum, throttle body is in the middle of the runner. They have such fast transient response because they have zero plenum volume. And they can make more power without choking because they dont have cross talk between the cylinders, since they arent linked in a common enclosed plenum. And in wiring that paragraph I realized how much of a struggle a turbocharged itb manifold would be, since the sealed plenum over the runners could bring the cross talk back.

Quad turbo setup with 4 intercoolers, cross talk problem solved.

I think it'd be better to run a collector backwards out of the compressor outlet. Split it into 4 right there.
