If you just mount the current in configuration A, how much could to angle the top portion towards the front of the car grill so you wouldn't have to cut the bonnet?

What's wrong with this? The beauty of a Caterfield/7 type is you could easily do this and make it look good. Short pipe runs, free air over the I/C, no change to coolant system...?

two 45° bends would fit better under the fasica cover. I'd then build shrouding to direct airflow directly under and onto the IC.
This is virtually how I did mine. The same intercooler you have can be got with the in and outlets at the top. Gives a lot more room as all you have to cater for is the silicone elbows rather than the core and end tanks that high.

but I'm wondering if the current couldn't just be used like this, on an angle:
