Because I feel helpful today, let me explain why you are wrong and we are right.

Your new cams brought your 1.6 from a pathetic <100whp to 105-110whp.

Meanwhile a completely stock '99 that would cost the same amount as your cams would make ~125whp.

I'm waiting for the next post to be "hey guys check it out I just spent $1000 on an OS Gikken diff for my 1.6 rear end!"

Just read through this thread, ended up eating a whole bag of gummy worms, so much entertainment

I'll be sure to come back when I'm having a bad day, just for a good laugh. I can't decide whether to join in with you guys or give him top secret part suggestions for his turbo car, maybe even overnighting parts from Japan if he has to. Such as:

Jenvey Individual Throttle Body (IRTB) Kit For Miata MX5 MX-5 89-05 JDM Roadster : REV9 Autosport

Your 1.6 won't even know what hit it YA NAW WHAT I SAYIN, hit dat boozt so harrrrd, dem Alpha Omegas be SCURRD.

Oh, don't forget, only use this oil, nothing else will take the boost, don't listen to these guys

Seriously though, this thread is full of win for so much

Lol.
Not sure if I'm going to get any extra woof from it, but the engine does look cleaner..lmao
That was all I needed to start laughing.

BTW- it's "oomph"...the extra go from a gain is "oomph", not woof. But something tells me you probably cannot figure out how to pronounce it.....and this is how we end up with retarded words like "rachet" and "rimz".

Wow. Just wow. The hypocrisy here is astounding. So if most of what we read is bullshit? All this translates to is "big words scare me". But keep up the good work of convincing yourself that most of what you read is indeed bullshit, it reflects brightly in your posts.

Goes to Mitsubishi forum to ask...wait...sense....Mitsubishi....Miata. Yeah, Miatas aren't made by Mitsubishi.

Fuel Injectors will either be APEX or from the RX7, suspension is yet to be decided, BUT it will be a quality and tested product. Those will not change...THEN after the car has been built and tuned, i will start swapping parts out (with exception of fuel injectors, suspension and ECU) with parts "suggested" by people on this forum and my other friends that have 7 and 8 second hondas. After each swap a run on the track and a dyno. close notes will be taken concerning times, horsepower and over all feel. Because i will be swapping parts so fast I will not be able to research quality of products UNLESS they break right away. I have already secured a second engine just in case the turbo blows through it. research aint cheap boys...now here is your chance to really learn something and not hearsay. Im about to mythbust almost every story I can find. I may even start a youtube channel The carnage starts this weekend

OMG where to start.

Your boys at ATP? What, you own the place now? I'm guessing you play phone-tag with them all day to the point where putting you on hold is like a game of hot-potato amongst the staff.

I LOVE the multiple use of "cheap" and "quality" back-to-back...it would be easier to teach a squirrel ride a unicycle than to teach you the difference between being cheap/frugal, knowing the difference between 'inexpensive' and 'cheap' and knowing how to apply such knowledge.

Honduhs. LoL. Yeah. Come to a forum where we actually, mostly, use these cars for their intended design, and bring in bullshit about shitty FWD college-girl econoboxes that go in straight lines. Great plan.

You're not going to teach us anything. You are merely providing us with some entertainment. Now go put your hat back on and dance for us.

From the start I have only wanted to learn how to break down an engine and build a turbo. I have read enough to R and R and have even learned some bolt on tricks in the last few days from reading other post. i come back here now and again to see what members are helpful and what members just like to talk ****. I have nice cars, I have fun cars, fast cars, but THIS is one i get to build and play with. Thought it would be fun to **** around with it and see what happens..unlike most, im NOT on a budget, so I can do just about whatever I like, does that mean throwing in a ls1, not really. It means I get to build and test ACTUAL research and not just reading it online. I also get to share that with people whom I figured would be interested in seeing the difference between an all out Chinese ebay build vs a DIY (the right way) version. This is just Entertainment for me, the car means nothing. Im sorry if this bothers you. I have a question, and try to answer this inside yourself first...... why do you care so much? How does my build experience affect you in a negative manner? Why does my happiness make you angry? If I choose to build a gremlin with a spoiler, how does that hurt you? I really didn't want to go 5 pages of bullshit. If the thread dies... so be it, in fact I kinda hoped it would, because all I see here is hate and not something I would normally see on a forum where someone was just trying to learn. As far as getting banned? SO, why would that hurt me? it doesn't. in closing, it matters very little what you say about my build. Im still going to do it and have fun , if you want to help, im all ears. I even welcome it, we can break open a peace pipe drink a few beers, if you want to sit on the side lines and yell out it wont work, i guess thats fine to, but I would appreciate it more if you helped instead. Hell, at the very least, stick around, keep your eyes open for the explosions.
There's that reading thing again. Wait, didn't you just state that "most of what we read is bullshit"? Maybe in the case of us reading your text...yeah, I'm sure that's what you meant.

If our opinion didn't matter in what we "say about your build", then why were you the first one to start getting butthurt and calling us names/insults? We started off trying to honestly give you helpful advice....because we see the same **** you're pulling on a regular basis.

This was something that they used and said it worked well.
Got the adjustable cam gears from OBX. Toyota used OBX at one point, so i figured i would give them a try also. pulled out the old cams, cam gear, and cleaned the Hydraulic Lifters Lash Adjusters (or whatever they are called) and replaced them with the for mentioned parts. It got dirty, took some time, about 8 hours. Most of that was trying to figure out how to put cams in without bending anything. Rotated the engine a few times by hand to make sure it was back together properly. Checked the book to reassure myself I was doing this right. Had a good time. anyway here are the picts. you can flame now
I'll give you some actual advice. The cams that cars had in Japan were different from ours, so any thing you thought you actually learned is irrelevant. Did you look up the specs on B6 JDM cams vs USDM and EUDM? How much difference in lift and duration between the JDM and the Toda ones you bought vs the USDM and the Toda? Bingo. You have zero clue. That's exactly what we call "buying **** and slapping it on". There are credible resources...but you think all of those are "bullshit".

Toyota and OBX? Riiiiight. Maybe Toyoda used OBX.....

You misspelled "pics".

Also, that hardtop is going to bug you so bad since it's the other Ti.

As I'm reading through this thread, I see the -props "increasing (absolute value)" faster than I can get through it.

Must be a troll.

Braineack's regret, in the "what I would do differently" or some such thread: NOT START WITH A 1.6. And he's done lots of stuff.

I love reading all the hate on this thread. Im still going to build my car. I will take some of the useful info and ignore some of you, but a few of you got my attention and require a response...First let me say that you ALL drive what has to be the lowest on the totem poll car of them all. A Mazda Miata. Just about every other car enthusiast laughs at this car. Sure it handles well and is fun to play with it, but let's be real for a minute. This car is compared to the Pontiac fiero and honda Del sol. Its a toy, and we all like to play with our toys. I don't get upset over what you say because, well, its a miata. who REALLY takes this car seriously ???? NOBODY!!! I read someone say lets ban anyone working with a 1.6. ok, but what about the v8 guys should they ban anyone keeping a 4 cylinder, or basically the car world banning the miata because.....lol, because its a miata! relax people stop crying over something so tiny. Im having fun, stop trying to **** in my coffee. I also read someone saying its not "woof" these are my words, if you understood it, good. i could have chosen a hundred others to describe it, but you seem to be limited to one, so ok use the one you like best.
Now back to my build, i didn't work on the car last weekend because I was in Mexico, going back down south to Disneyland with the kids this weekend , but will jump back on it by the 19th. Admit it guys , you keep coming back because you KNOW this car is goingt o be EPIC!! I am here for your pleasure
