Default Longer IAT sensor than the GM?

Wondering if there might be a longer option.

The adapter and the sensor obviously screw in a bit more, but for it to be in airflow the sensor would need to basically bottom out it’s “nut” onto the stainless lip. The sensor is tapered and gets snug really fast. Even if I pretend that it doesn’t need the bushing and put the sensor as far in as possible, limited by the sensor flange bottoming out on the bulkhead but, the element isn’t completely in the airflow.

considering just plugging this and tapping the cold side of the intercooler.

No personal experience but based on all the threads I have read here the preferred location is the intercooler cold side, because heat soak

Yeah I had the same idea and even tried to tap the fitting out on the port further with a 1/2 NPT tap. Didn't work.
