That... and I'm gone for 12hrs a day with work :p

Give a man a break :p

This is bullshit. Complete bullshit. I opened this thread because I expected to see today's (yesterdays work) pictures. Instead I just see more useless banter. I motion to lock this thread until more eye candy is provided :(

damn this project is looking GOOD

to protect the muffler bearings...duh!

didnt think the engines rocked that much with the MC engine mounts to require a flex? rather weld in a flex than fix a crack

Splitime 06-30-2007 10:54 AM

We tend to put flex's on all the DPs. Preventing cracks is just nice. Don't feel like having to pull stuff because of an exhaust leak.

Braineack 06-30-2007 11:03 AM

how's the engine going to flex when you're using the intercooler as a solid motor mount ;)

Splitime 06-30-2007 12:14 PM

Heh, its got a flex/hump coupler in there... and another for the other side.

Ideally i'll use the bike shock I picked up to make a dampener on the intake manifold side. But there is so much else to finish first.

you know....ive never thought of that, i dont think 2 couplers will take up enough slack, i might have get some hump couplers when the time comes......

mazda/nissan 07-01-2007 08:53 PM

how far can you tilt the rad and it still function properly (stock rad)? i may need to tilt it to fit my intercooler in.

Fireindc 07-01-2007 10:10 PM

Dude this shit is fucking insane... Damn, i might have to steal some ideas... everything looks perfect.

shinobix 07-02-2007 01:55 AM

hey splitime, i had a quick question about the gtx valve cover your using. i recently got one and had it powdercoated in hopes of using it, but

what did you do about that rear nipple in the back ?

how did you mount the coilpack ?

and since theres no pcv valve, can you run a venting catch can directly to the nipple on the passenger side ?

spaced the questions out so you could answer them by copying and pasting

Put some RTV in it and pinched it closed. It happens to fit right between the 2 coils.

I used the bottom bolt hole and a small piece of 3/16th steel with 2 holes in it for the driverside mount. So from valve cover bolt to normal mount point on Coil pack holder.

I don't bother with PCV stuff on turbos... I'll be running the intake side valvecover vent to a catch can[/QUOTE]

Eh?

Oh... we tried the other day to 'downgrade' my gt28 from an 83 turbine housing to the normal 64 turbine housing... but it didn't fit. Seems like I might have bought a gt2871rs instead of a normal gt28rs :p

Of course... we checked the housing on the turbo... after we welded the internal gate shut... and grafted a 3" Vband onto the housing itself. Anyone want a custom gt28rs turbine housing with a 3" Vband outlet?

hazimwood 07-02-2007 01:01 PM

Man, I love this build, I check this thread every chance I get to salivate at the photos. Thanks for the coverage.

Splitime 07-02-2007 01:04 PM

Glad I can entertain while I build. The pictures are only a fraction of it... the wrenching is the best part :)

Whoops, so what is your power gaol? This is gonna be a track machine right?

Splitime 07-02-2007 01:41 PM

I'm thinking 250 will be quite fun. Possibly 300 on tap. Considering it'll be mainly on track abuse... I'm not really going to push limits often.

Newbsauce 07-05-2007 11:44 AM

Is this slow ass build almost done? Where are the pictures?! I'm hoping you didn't take off July 4th.

Splitime 07-06-2007 01:53 PM

I worked on our condo the 4th... we are amidst prepping it for sale... i have 0 spare time :p.

So... I've got MS harness done (i think). I've got IM on for good, fuel rigged up and plugged in. Exhaust on and done... radiator mods finished... just doing hoses today, coolant fill... oil change... and maybe startup?

Still have seat/harness to finish... have to finish pulling abs junk. Also have roof air scoop to finish up. Then mount up my driving lights, bleed brakes and clutch slave... slowly getting there

Reid 07-06-2007 06:31 PM

:gay:

Splitime 07-07-2007 04:12 AM

All buttoned up.... leaks from rear fittings for coolant reroute. Took off... "fixed" leaks again... so i'll tackle that later.

No spark/fuel from car... either ground I can't find is off (car turns over) or I fugged up my MS harness.

Arkmage 07-07-2007 08:22 PM

make sure your fuel lines didn't get hooked up backwards.... that's probably the #1 offender.

turbopezz 07-07-2007 10:54 PM

yea, i let my friend hook up the fuel lines and wasted a day figuring out that b . s.:vash:

magnamx-5 07-07-2007 11:07 PM

try running fuel only first to see if the MS spark is the issue.

karter74 07-09-2007 07:20 PM

Where did the pics go??

Splitime 07-09-2007 08:20 PM

Oh i had the fuel lines backwards :p Fixed that. My issue is something else, I'll be back at car this coming weekend.

Pictures are hosted on www.we-todd-did-racing.com . they are on/off stable :p

I'll see about posting them up on imagestation tomorrow.

Splitime 07-09-2007 10:54 PM

Until we-todd hosting comes back... I'll put pictures into an imagestation album also...

Saml01 07-12-2007 09:58 AM

Well I came.

Where are the O2 sensors in the exhaust?

Splitime 07-12-2007 10:21 AM

Just one O2 (wideband). Its just past where the external WG merges with the DP.

VRTSid 07-13-2007 02:59 PM

see man thats what a vmount is supposed to look like. thats pretty rad.

Splitime 07-14-2007 08:15 PM

Thanks to some MS help from neogenesis... I'm up and running :) Got car to start up and idle on the 550s without an IAC. Fixed coolant leak also. It's basically ready to drive... but down at buddies warehouse up on his car trailer... which takes 2 people to get it down.

Oh... I took video and fresh pictures of bay... but forgot the usb cable attached to the MS in the car... so it'll have to wait.

So I'll have it down and tuning tomorrow night... or sometime this week.. or something like that... :)

It's ALIVE!

If you want to view it... download it and change the extension to .XLS

hey if you are using the map I posted, I am not sure how accurate it is, I have a newer one that is a bit more updated, but still not quite there. You gotta change it to .msq though before loading as our uploader does not accept .msq files.

Right now I am running around 12 psi, and fairly rich in boost (around 11:1) and I have had to retard the ignition timing a bit to keep it from pinging on Cali gas in the heat, should be better than the other map I posted though.

Splitime 07-17-2007 01:48 AM

That map ran a bit funky for me. Ignitor started getting hot and tach started glitching.

I did however... pull the car outta the warehouse and pull back in on it. Sounds mean and the clutch engagement is quite sudden.

Anyways... quick MS startup video... its off of a digital camera... so not the greatest video.
And some updated pictures of the bay.

It was first startup in over 6 months... HLAs needed some oil time :p

Sounded much nicer last night when I drove it in/out of warehouse. Once I find time... I'll be down there for tuning.
