Hi i was wondering if i would be safe using this for 8 psi w/ FMU and 1.8 using this as ignition timing, it retards up to 20 degree's based only on boost.

I believe the MSD unit you refer to will only work with a single coil ignition system. It will not work with the miata ignition. The MSD unit designed for miata turbo systems can only pull 6 degrees of timing which should be fine for up to 8-10 psi along with an AFPR to handle fueling.
