Well, the big honkin' Magnaflow showed up today. Boy, this thing isn't about adding lightness to a Miata. Sucker is 24 lbs! But, ther performance should be worth it. Stainless mandrel bends from Columbia River came in yesterday so I have a project for tonight!

Giant Magnaflow MAGNAFLOW MUFFLER 6" X 12" 22" BODY 3" O/O 12578 installed last night. Pretty easy fit. Sounds great wide open, much quieter than the flowmaster at low revs and less rice. TIG'ed it all up to the midpipe with stainless mandrel bends and hangers. Not too bad to install the whole thing at one time. The muffler itself is a heavy sumbitch though. 24 lbs! Pics of the assembly coming tonight.

Couldn't tell as it was really wet today and full throttle was FTL. Supposed to dry out and I'm going to log it to compare.

Oh, and this makes 95.6 or 95.8dB so I got banned for the day at the 95dB limited track. How do I kill 3dB?

Resonator after cat but before muffler? Mine has one and the whole exhaust is super quiet now with the big muffler. Not sure how much it contributes, though.

Probably the only way he could fit something that big. There isnt much room at ALL under a Miata, though I'm sure you know that.

I don't, but I tried to get it high enough of up to add a diy piece.

I dunno... it's pretty effing tight with that support brace. I think I have less than 3/8 of clearance all the way around the pipe. I actually ground off part of the diff housing where it has a corner sticking out just to prevent rattling.

I still think it's doable. Here's mine- and I wasn't taking that brace into consideration. But there's enough room there to work around it if it was there IMO.
