Do you have any pics of the modified intake manifold for the extra fuel rail? Very interested in the individual extra injector setup.

Here are some some fotos from my engine bay, and the modified intake manifold

rotaryjunky 10-12-2006 02:57 PM

That settles it, I am going to Greece the next time I am in Italy. Rides?

Braineack 10-12-2006 03:09 PM

What's the vacuum line off the manifold going into?

samnavy 10-12-2006 05:12 PM

WOW! That's some blue bling!!! I really like it. It's very clean... and really simple. We need dyno graphs!!!

I think I see that vacuum line running down to his wastegate... you can see it pretty clear in the third pic. What kind of WG is that?

And you'd better get religious about heat shielding in there or you're gonna melt stuff!

Dr. Nick 10-12-2006 05:57 PM

320cc + 230cc = 550cc which are common, why not just go with a lot less complication and get a set of 550's or bigger?

jayc72 10-12-2006 06:17 PM

Probably can't run 550cc injectors with the Emanage Blue. Buying the 8 smaller injectors is probably cheaper than buying the 550cc injectors.

Ultimately I think this is a perfect solution when running a piggy back.

Mach929 10-12-2006 06:25 PM

interesting setup probably a nightmare to tune. i like the idea of leaving the stock 230s alone and using the other injectors to add needed fuel

brgracer 10-12-2006 07:07 PM

Wow, that looks great! And your name fits after seeing the size of your turbo! :bigtu:

As for tuning, his setup, while more complicated in terms of wiring and the extra rail, should actually be easier to tune. Off boost the stock ECU controls everything with the stock injectors so nothing has changed or needs to be done, and in boost the emanage simple retards timing and adds fuel to the extra set of injectors. It actually makes the off boost tuning that you usually need for much larger injectors non-existent so no lumpy idle or off boost issues.

VRTSid 10-12-2006 07:48 PM

could I use my dsm 450's like this with the emanage? as the secondary injectors? they are just sitting in my garage lol

how does that fuel rail attach to the additional injectors? I dont see a bracket or is it somthing else?

Fritch 10-12-2006 07:49 PM

I like the extra injectors, thought about doing that down the road instead of the common 550's as to avoid idle problems and low speed crap sometimes associated with that. In fact its the same thing FM used to do with the NB FM2 kits a while back and it seemed to work pretty good for them.

hmmmmm

If you are saying about this in the foto, this is the BLOW OFF VALVE.

1.Emanage can't hold 550 cc/min injectors.
2.Driveability
3.Because I still have the stock ECU in my miata using piggyback solution, I prefer to have the extra fuel I need on boost situations, from an extra 4inj. so my ECU has no relation to my extra needs of fuel.

Sorry but I can't explain exactly what I want to say.

No it's not the cost. I have already set of 550 injectors from RX7 and they are for sale.
The real reason is what I said in the previous post!

+1

I think that this is the best solution when using a piggyback.

Something like that...

We have made some little changes at off boost situation (advance timing and some changes to the additional inj.) and at boost we are using the sub inj. map and the other 2 maps for retard the timing and addit. inj.

TheBandit 10-14-2006 10:07 AM

Nice Job, I was once going to do this, but at the time the second fuel rail scared me and I went to a standalone with 550's. Glad it works well for you.

Actually u can see them making zoom to the picture.

Almost seems like sacrilege to be running a GT2876R on an E-manage. How much power?

It's not so sacrilege as you think.

Actually, the EM in my setup, is a custom, DIY management with 8 injectors, and it is very easy to tune.
At off boost situations, cold starts etc, is like a stock miata. Something that is very difficult to find and tune with stand alones.

About the numbers:magna:

I am hitting 300 WHP at 15 psi
and 380 WHP at 25 psi at dynapack (very rich dyno)

The most pure dyno here in Greece is MAHA and gave me 370 bhp.

The dynos is a very big discussion..:hustler:

But the car is very fast, it is a little faster than a porsche 997 turbo (480 bhp) from rolling 2 gear:cool:

Zabac 01-24-2008 10:26 AM

bigturbo, thanks for all the pics man
now send me some baklava, lol

next time im in that part of the world ill try to meet you, id love to see some of the custom work you have done, especially the transmission and the brakes
love it

how difficult was the fd3s tranny mod?... ohhh and by the way very nice car.. also what manifold is that? custom?

AbeFM 01-25-2008 03:22 AM

I hate to join in with everyone else, but really nice car! I want a better pic of the exhaust, I wanted to do center exhaust on my car. If you get better pics, I'll host them for you no matter the size.

I also really want a pic of the manifold off the car, I have the Flyin' Miata fuel rail (well, I did until a month ago), and it was terrible, it always broke off. Have you heard of people putting race gas in the second injectors?

I really liked the piggy, but it had issues with not knowing what was going on with the OEM ecu. Went to a MegaSquirt for cheap and am rapidly getting very happy with it. It feels better off boost than my OEM felt on it.

hmmmmm

Um, yeah - I had that set up for years. Change altitude, take it in the ass. Fuel tabs fall off, take it in the ass. Try to control ANYTHING, take it in the ass. If I'd put all the money into a computer I'd put into new rods, I'd have a very expensive computer. :-)

Zabac 01-25-2008 10:00 AM

musaka is how we spell it, not sure what pastitsio is, but sure, some of that too, lol

i too am interested in your tranny mod and how reliable its been for you so far
this is something i want to look into myself at a later time once i approach more power

I opened a new topic for the RX FD3s modification. I have this 1 year now and it works better than stock. (shifting etc)
