its not like they're all stacked up and waiting for you. Over the past few weeks Ive seen at least a handful of MSPNP's sold though.

There will be, besides

Sounds like you have time. Take your time, get it right.

So MSpnp you think is probably the way to go for a newb like me? My roomate has tuned over 200 Honda's on chrome so we shouldn't have a problem with that. I'm focused on install going smooth and simple

18psi 03-06-2013 01:18 PM

mspnp install goes like this:

-plug in
-connect vacuum line
-wire in ait (if going speed density)
-synch timing (on na)
Done.

Its not the best. But it will work just fine.

Good thing he's messed with Crome, because it's totally the same thing.

Hey Ryan! i like what you did for your miata! Like others said not the best but in my opinion its good considering the price you probably spent on your setup!!

I also did a "custom turbo kit" on my miata! I also need to add a megasquirt to it to proper tune it!

Keep your thread updated when you get the megasquirt and post up some video of the result :)

Ben, you're a narrow minded moron. I'm not saying the software uses the same interface. Having experience in tuning is like having experience in autocross. The more experienced tuners can adapt to a different software and still do a kickass street tune. If you suck at autocross or drag racing no matter what car you are in you will still suck.

18psi, one thing I'm having trouble grasping is how do you tell the difference and why is MSpnp $800 and the "MS-1 megasquirt complete" $250?
I think I could probably handle a bit of wiring as I've done plenty of car stereos, and obd1 conversion on my pre obd car.

18psi 03-06-2013 01:55 PM

assembling and wiring in a megasquirt is not the same as car stereo. its not even close.

if you're good at wiring/electronics, go for it.

with the pnp that's what you're paying the extra money for: its pnp

MSPNP plugs and plays, if it's $800 then it's probably built on MS2. MS1 complete is a complete Megasquirt 1 unit.

I'm not a narrow-minded moron at all. That statement was meant to be a joke, as it really is. Crome is entirely different from a real standalone. I tuned 40-50 cars "back in the day" when i was a kid into Hondas. So naturally, i'm not as good as your roomate or something, but we also weren't "tuning" any of those beyond seat-of-the-pants tuning, nor were we using widebands.

It was really mostly just "canned" tunes that we were loading. Not really the same thing. Crome is to pre-school as Megasquirt is to college.

You can take offense at it if you want, but it might ruin my day.

I feel the need. The need for speeeed!

Revvin up your engine...
Listen to her howlin roar
metal under tension
beggin you to touch and go....

Driftmissile 03-06-2013 02:21 PM

So here's my next question. If I stay out of boost on my daily highway drive 60mph, 300 miles a week, will I be okay if I wait a month or so to find a mspnp for a good price? Or will I do damage to my engine? I'm looking to be realistic now. Are the injectors going to cause me problems running rich?

concealer404 03-06-2013 02:24 PM

Driving the CRX not an option?

It's honestly probably not going to blow the motor. Do you know what your AFRs are like?

18psi 03-06-2013 02:33 PM

I would go with the option that suggests taking off the egay crap, putting the car back to stock, and enjoying a properly running car til you save up for a proper setup and tune.

Driftmissile 03-06-2013 02:35 PM

This weekend I'm planning on welding in another o2 bung so my roommate can plug in his wideband. I'm running an rx7 airflow meter 7 clicks back and 1.8 injectors. Might pull the plugs friday morning and check them. I guess I could drive the crx, I just don't like to take her out in the nasty rain with all the trucks on the highway.

Driftmissile 03-06-2013 02:37 PM

Why do you hate my manifold so much? You act like it's the end of the fucking world. Every other part of my setup is solid.

18psi 03-06-2013 02:39 PM

I think the worst part about you is that you are just too ignorant to see how much of a POS your car is

18psi 03-06-2013 02:40 PM

I'm completely honest when I say: its about 70% crap. Maybe more. I'm in a good mood and don't want to be mean.

That's the truth
