Default Recirculating or VTA?

Need to find a BOV for the SAAB. I recall that I bought a cheap BOV from siliconeintakes.com when I turboed the 99 and it worked fine. It was $30 then, now $45.

SS Style BOV Flange

The question is recirc or VTA? From reading this article on their website

BOV

It appears that the only real NEED to recirc is if you are running MAS/MAF. I did recirc though I was MAF-less. As this will be the case again, are there any downsides to VTA other than sounding like a ricer?

You got it regarding the MAF and recirculating it. VTA with MAF on the intake/pre turbo will result in metered air being dumped and result in a short rich running period. Blow thru MAF or speed density setup, VTA you should be good to go with no drawbacks.

Just the loud sound. Ive never heard of any drawbacks running speed density (no maf/afm).

for my MS6, i tried running VTA but when I took the hose off of my BPV, it would struggle at idle (maybe computer wasn't recognizing i had it to VTA) but if you do have it as a BPV, you will get that extra spurt of air when you throw it into neutral but i dont think the effects would be as bad if your ecu is set up to read VTA and u have it as a BPV oppose to vice versa.
