NA Turbo Parts on an NB

there is a local guy that is selling all the Turbo parts of him Miata. His is a 94-97 I have a 99.

Below is a list of what he has that I'm interested in.

T3/60-1 with a .63 a/r turbo.
1.8L Miata top mount turbo manifold.
Downpipe to go with Mani. and Turbo above
38mm Tial wastegate

Which of these things will fit/work on my car.

I've done a search on this site and m.net as well as read the DIY FAQ here and haven't found much info on cross compatibility.

Yeah they'll fit. The DP should have plenty of clearance though it might contact part of the chassis. That is alot easier fix than building whole new stuff though.
Go for it. What manifold does he have?

The mani is made by a local shop looks good and has a lifetime warranty. If i have issues with it all i have to do is drive my car up to the shop and they will fix/replace..

i should be picking it up this weekend.

I'm hoping the MSPNP for the 99-00 will be out soon. if not i may be going Haltech or Hydra for managment.

Braineack 11-08-2007 02:22 PM

I suggest you buy! maybe go with a different turbo. but that's high quality stuffs right there.

I'll more than likely start with that Turbo. My HP goals are pretty low i'm more interested in a quick spool..

looking for no more than 220 WHP

From what i'm hearing i'll need an intercooler too, so i might try to pick up the one he has for now. I need to get more info on it.

Braineack 11-08-2007 02:49 PM

that turbo is good for 600HP & 28psi. It's exactly the opposite of what you're looking for in a turbo. As opposed to my straight up T3 (still considered larger to most miata guys) that's good for 300HP but still spools well below 5K. :gay:

ahh .. thanks, I obviously have a lot to learn still.. What would you suggest i use for a quick spool with that Manifold and Downpipe?

Braineack 11-08-2007 03:08 PM

find out the A/R of the turbine.

edit: looks like you says it's a .63 A/R

i mean you could get away with bolting on a smaller compressor wheel/housing on it and keeping the 60-1 for a rainy day.

the Turbo is less than $500 with around 2000 miles on it.

would it be wise to purchase this and bolt on a smaller compressor side or just purchase something with Zero miles and get exactly what i'm looking for. Roughly how much would it run to get the different compressor side?

Braineack 11-08-2007 03:20 PM

depends where you buy it. I picked up my super 60 wheel/housing/backplate for less than $100.

im just unsure how that turbo will react. i have a feeling it wont make good power till at least 4.5K.

He will make all you want. If you would like his Contact info please just let me know.

cjernigan 11-09-2007 10:49 AM

Get it. I might want one.

MX5-4me 11-09-2007 10:52 AM

Looks like I've confirm a deal with the guy that has these parts.

Here is what I'm getting.

T3/60-1 with a .63 a/r turbo.
1.8L Miata top mount turbo manifold.
Downpipe to go with Mani. and Turbo above
38mm Tial wastegate
drain line to the turbo and both oil fittings
k&n filter and intake elbow
cold side charge piping

If the Turbo ends up not being what i want I'll more than likely sell it. He is giving me a good enough of a price I should be able to get out of it pretty much what I'll have in it.

Now it's time to decide on Management in no certain order.

MS with a 94-94 CAS
Haltech
Hydra
AEM F/IC
PC-Pro
