There are 170 miles on this turbo install and nothing has gone wrong. 'Home Depot' couplers included.

looks like this: {yt}098afw4aw3{/yt}
where 098afw4aw3 is the last part of the youtube URL after the = sign.
oh and use [ instead of {...
it's so awesome.
After some of the "tech" you have brought to the forum recently, you better think twice about a statement like that. I know guys who have STi's and FD's and a bunch of cheaper ****, DIY turbo honda's and such, and none of us have rich parents or are starving ourselves.
and if these same people blow up their engines tomorrow they are gonna take food of their plates to fix it right?
Sorry man, I don't think that way.
I missed the dump tube part. sorry. I am still curious why you modified the original housing though.
Here ya go!
S'all good.
Found a pic of what it looked like originally.
You can see the wimpy little passage that the wastegate'd exhaust connected to the downpipe through. Having this exhaust create pressure just behind the turbine is no good for top end power.

Here are some pics from an HMT meet a while back.

At the previous meet we turbo'd my friend Jeremy's 2000 civic. At this one we installed the tubular manifold.
He ran that external wastegate open for nearly the entire time he had the car (bout two years of near daily driving on it).

Do you guys have the ***** to turbo a car in an afternoon, 100+ miles from home?
I sure don't, these days

it's quick
Yessir. Thats my album.
It is an SR20 swap youre right, I ran up to him while he was lining up, shook his hand and told him to win one for all of us. I went to that guys pit area twice during the whole day and but he was not there so I couldnt talk to him. Snooped around his car, took some pics, and left. I wanted to open his hood, but didnt want to have to deal with **** if someone from another team saw me doing it.
Edit: Im a tool, i should left a note for him to join the forum.

Finished installing this Spec Stage II clutch the day before my most recent autocross

My girlfriend broke it in for me

Unfortunately I was asked to leave the autocross after four runs because I had an open exhaust (which many other people managed to get away with...)
I did replace those "Home Depot" couplers (although nothing went wrong with them at all for 400+ miles) with real ones. And yes, I drove to the autocross (45 minutes each way) with that wastegate dumping into the engine bay. And I encountered zero problems!

Welcome to the board. Good job sticking with it. You got knocked around some and came through OK.
Nice Ghetto build. You've done a lot and have a lot left to do or improve on. Go back through all the BS, there is actually plenty of good advice there. The reason so many here point out your failures and potential points of failure is they have lived through them themselves. There is some good advice there coming from experienced builders, it's just disquised as bashing.
Keep at it and keep improving it. Wastegate vta and LC1 would be priorities for me. Intake position and improving the quality of the piping/ connectors would be 2nd.

DUDEEEE...
We have the same turbo. Except mine has a BOV molded into the compressor houseing.
Welding the wastegate-exhaust passage and running a dump pipe is a really good idea. I just might have to do that this summer!!
Thanks for the idea!
Oh hey, when do you get full spool?
