New turbo pickens outs time
the 2871 48 trim has a 49.2mm inducer and 71.0mm exducer, 0.60 A/R compressor.
the 2871 56 trim has a 53.1mm inducer and 71.0mm exducer, 0.60 A/R compressor. This is the turbo I have in a box somewhere along with the larger .86 turbine.
I don't know how to get the lb/min numbers that Scott has. But those 56 trim inducer/exducer/trims are the same as the GT3071 but with a 0.60 A/R instead of the GT3071's 0.50A/R compressor.
Confusing.

Does this look like a BEGi cast mani w/ an external wg flange simply welded to the bottom?

I'm considering going external gate. Seems worthwhile. "In for a penny, in for a pound"

the exhaust tube from wg to downpipe becomes a major concern. i can't make that ****.
you wanna fly? i'll send you airtran... maybe even upgrade ya to business class
but probably not :gay:

That's my predicament. I have a regular Begi T3 mani and a T3 50 trim that i'm gonna hybrid my TO4E compressor onto. I have a Tial 3xmm external on the car now but for the sake of easy fabrication i'd like to use a standard internal WG adapter that has a 2.5"vband outlet. The DP would be sooo easy. I worry about boost spike/creep problems though. That **** would stuck to do twice and I plan to bring the car up close to 300hp.

riiiiight, plus I dont think I can weld tubing to cast iron anyway...
probably easiest and most cost effective (IF you go external) is to sell what you have and buy the new or used parts for it...
I've never had a car with an internal gate so frankly I don't know if I need the external or if a internal with a good solid actuator will be good enough for me up to my ~300hp goal?

no no I will probably get BEGi to take care of the exhaust manifold. the problem is limited to the tube between the external gate and the downpipe

Stephanie says they can convert one of their iron manifolds to external gate, and they can make the downpipe.
How can a company like Garrett offer a turbo that's internally gated that creeps? What's the point of offering the internal gate then? Test a turbo on the least restrictive exhaust and make the internal gate flow enough so boost creep doesn't happen. It ain't like they can't test this **** before they offer it for sale.

I decided to keep my S256 after looking at dynos of a GT2871R on a B16 motor. The dyno plots are almost identical to my turbo except the S256 at 9000rpm is still in the middle island on its compressor map. Can you say peak tq at redline?
