Wideband is easy to install (I run LC1). The standalone will require some reading though. What standalone did you decide? There is a lot of info on what you need and it wont get any less confusing until you spend some time and actually look at it.

Megasquirt PnP. I probably will learn more from the experience.

Any reviews for the Begi Shanghai Turbo S4/S3 kit? Any other missing exponents? fuel rail, oil plugs, etc?

Thinking about it, lol. Stupid decision?
Besides changing the injectors to the denso 550cc or RC550cc

I would like to apologize for my noob actions all over this thread. Anyways, I've been busy restoring this miata and getting it to shape; Maintenance, Exterior, etc..

What I've done lately:

Transmission: Royal Purple 75/90 in
Differential: Royal Purple 75/90 in
Engine: Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 10/30
Engine is still healthy.

At a Miata, the previous owner informed me that there's a performance chip in the ECU that makes it pass red line (I haven't got the chance to check it out yet). Clutch is still strong, master cylinder and slave were all replaced.

Anyways, here are some before and after look on my Miata.
http://vimeo.com/42519372

I've decided to go with a turbo kit as my next mod. I chose the Shanghai S1 Kit w/ #2 intercooler. I am deciding to put a deposit on it around next month. I will upgrade my injectors to rc330 injectors and fuel pump to a walbro fuel pump (not sure what size). I was wondering if anyone had problems with Begi. If I could recall, I seen a few posts about Begi providing terrible customer service.

This car will be used for somewhat drifting, daily driving, somewhat racing, and possibly autocrossing. I am keeping an eye out for a 1.8 (half shafts, stubs, driveshaft) for back when the 1.6 diff goes out.

Is it safe to run it with a stock ecu with that performance chip? After the turbo kit, I'm going to purchase a mspnp.. Is there any tips or advices on the turbo kit? Lmk.. thanks!

I forgot to mention the exhaust, I'm running a stock down pipe to a MSM cat back. I'm probably going to be using that for awhile and upgrade to this 3" pipping:

if you can, get the mspnp before the turbo. you're gonna need it, so you might as well have it. tune and learn. rinse repeat.

No seriously, its a great idea. Every damn day I wish I had gone this route. Get some solid experience tuning your ECU of choice (Megasquirt, AEM, Adaptronic, etc) before your boosted and you will have a better understanding of what the car is doing and how to adjust things. Its now 2012 and believe most of the new(er) options have some sort of auto-tune ability that should save a ton of time. Check out the ECU section and see what people are saying.

Explain your experience. I wouldn't mind hearing your experience. Lately I've been looking for a mspnp on the for sale sections. No luck yet.

Its pretty simple. I bought my Rotrex with the Digital Fuel Controller band-aids (super/voodoo/power) card and its a piece. I have no real control over my AFRs OR timing. It runs WAY super pig rich in boost and there is no adjustability built into it at all. I'm talking RICHER than 10:1 AFRs here based on the WB02 I've got installed pre-cat. Power is not smooth when it transitions to boost when the DFC takes over the injectors. Its probably fine for some people but I KNOW it can be better. Gas mileage is also HORRIBLE.

There are A LOT of things you can screw up on a boosted motor if its not tuned correctly, more potential for damage. Its going to be a lot easier and more forgiving to tune NA before you go boost. Also, if you screw things up bad enough with the megasquirt, its 100x easier to swap the stock ECU back in so you can get home to post here and ask for help

My current plan is to go back to stock, then add the megasquirt and learn on the stock engine (and carry the factory ECU in the trunk), then add injectors and learn to tune some more, then add the rotrex, etc etc etc. Do it in small steps and learn as you go. That's my anyway.

Thanks,

Update:

I recently purchased my MSPNP2. I was planning on buying my turbo kit within next month or the following month. Should I go with the Shanghai-S kit then fab up my own IC (a friend of mine is willing to sell his "egay" IC w/ pipping) or go with the Shanghai S1? I'm kind of on a tight budget.

what did the mspnp2 cost you?
don't go with any injector other then new type injectors. If you don't all you will be doing is wasting money.

$800+, I was planning on using 320cc injectors just to be safe.
