I'm thinking not much more than 2k-2.5k. '85.5+ 944, E30, Subie 2.5RS are three that come to mind. I wouldn't mind a Datsun 510, but I doubt i'll find one for that cheap. I've also considered a 300ZX. Anything fast and/or odd and RWD.

To be honest, I'm not a huge Miata fan. Yes, I know, sacrilege... I would have to cage and hardtop it. I don't remember who it is, but someone has a black one all race-specced. I like that.

But with a wife and baby, I need at least a 2+2. That puts the Honda S200 and Z3 Coupe, two I am pretty fond of, also out of contention.

i got some metric to An fittings and then had some AN line made up at a local hydraulics shop for my 16g system was easy. i also put my drain just above the motor mount if u have a 90 degree air tool its not that hard and it gives a straight shot down for oil drainage.

300zx are nightmares to work on, and are not particularly fast. I love both the Impreza and E30, have spent time driving and working on both. You can get a good E30 for 2.5k. You won't get a good 2.5RS for that price, and any 510 in that range will be covered in car cancer. I don't know anything about Porches.

Cool. The more that know of E30s, the better. I'm a Porsche fanatic, so I'm mainly torn between the 944 and E30. The 300ZXs I could find were mainly 3k+, and all non-turbo. I found one '97 2.5RS for 2500, but inspite of being rebuilt, they never replaced the waterpump and it needs to be replaced. I think I'll pass.

Check out e30tech and stare at some cars. They are great, easily available in 4 door. I like the looks of the older ones better (small tail lights), but it's all personal preference.

Hate to quote a cliche, but any Porsche is going to nickle and dime you to dime you to death.

I've heard the same about working on them, but a bone stock 1993 turbo runs 13.7 in the 1/4, that's pretty good moving.

My buddy just replaced the turbos in his 91 300zx and had to pull the engine to get to them. Parts aren't cheap either but with a few bolt ons and upgraded turbos and injectors he's pushing 400+ hp with a mild tune
