Talking Ok masterminds check me out

Been doing lots of reading the past few days and have come up with a list of toys. To start with I have a 99 with a 1.8 and I do about 4+ track days (Road Racing) a year. My car is driven in the summer only and not everyday (but most of them HEH). I'm not overly concerned about having boost fast, or making huge numbers. I'm thinking 8lbs of boost at most, 200rwhp was my goal but that seems to be knocking of the door or failure on some parts. I'm sure I can live with 170-190rwhp. My goal budget is 2k, not including clutch. After doing some reading I made my list and have some questions about some parts. So for the list

-T3 Super 60 (now I don't see that these come with internal Wastegates. Anyone have any other good suggestions of snails with Internal wastes? I'm not opposed to spending less money as long as its not a chinacharger ) -600

-Fuel-PC Pro (PC pro seems to be a cost effective way to control fuel well. Am I going to be needing RRFPR, Walbro, Injectors......?) -500

-Begi Manifold for T3 -439

-Begi DP (not going with stainless at this time to keep costs down and because the car doesn't see a TON of action (AKA no snow)) -285

-MBC (Maybe don't even need one, ebay) -20

-Wideband o2 (Do I need an o2 clamps as well? I still don't full understand what is required there) -300

-Ignition/Timing (I would like the peice of mind of some kind of control of timing, can I have Bipes on a 99 or do I have to have MSD?) -300 at worst 158 at best

so thats about $2,282 before intercooler

This leads me to my next question. Flyin Miata's Voodoo kit not intercooled is 2,770. Now if I was to go that route i would skip the Voodoo part and go right to PC Pro anyway. it seems to be that I can get to the same price point and possibly be Intercooled and have some Timing control. Two things that make me feel more comfortable at the track when its 90 degrees in the shade and you are doing 110+ 3 times in 3 minutes or less.

BEGI Mani/DP
T25 Turbo (get a good used one cheap with an internal WG)
LC1 Wideband $170 (You'll need a gauge)
Voodoo Box or PC-Pro ~$500 (Or buy my Voodoo Box for a '99 for $325 shipped)
Voodoo Box has a built in O2 clamp so you don't have to worry about that.
Choose your intercooler setup be it DIY or from BEGi/FM.
As for timing control, I didn't run any and didn't have any problems at 7 psi on my '99 so i never looked into a bipes or MSD.
You don't need a RRFPR, Walbro, or injectors for 8psi. You actually can't run a RRFPR because you have a returnless fuel system. There is a way to do it, but you won't need it. The stock fuel pump is fine.

Hope this helps you, I went with a T3, but I thought it might help to see another setup. I didn't add the intercooler piping to the log yet.

For the money, megasquirt just cannot be beat. You would spend about the same amount on it as the Fuel PC pro, and that will also control the ignition if you want it to. If I could redo any part of my build, I would have went with a megasquirt. Harder to setup at first, but well worth the headache at first.

I don't think I will be going MegaJuice. PC Pro and MSD or Bipes I think are how I'm going to roll. Now begins the search for a Nissan turbo.

Cjerigan when you ran 7lbs when did you see boost? Also did you see boost at highway crusing speeds of 70-75? I notice that at those speeds my car is at 3.5-4 grand. Also just for clarification sake. Your previous list should be everything I need besides plumbing and other stuff (timing control, IC.....) correct? Thanks for your help, everyone!!!! I had no idea this could be done for so little.

I have a GT28r on mine and on the freeway I'm boost as soon as I touch the throttle, I don't really like it, it's cool when you're playing around or something but I'd rather have a larger turbo and downshift when I need to, but that's just preference I guess.

Wow even with a GT28R you are boosting already. Isn't that rather crappy on milage and not exactly a good idea for the engine?

you dont see boost just becouse you are at 4000k RPM you need to have a load on the engine to see boost i can run all day long atg 7200 RPM with no laod for the motor to fight and not see any boost. That being said chads setup is not the ideal one to emulate he has WG issues i suspect as he has related to me many a time that he only boosts past 4000 rpm. His turbo should be boosting by 3000 at least so i am thinking leak but this is just his beater setup i look for many more good things to come from him this fall .

Samnavy has the same turbo as me. He starts to see boost at 1800 rpm and see's peak boost of 10psi around 3300. When cruising on the highway i'm at 4k at 80 mph in 5th gear. If i push the pedal down to load the engine, the turbo spools. How much gas I give it obviously determines how much boost i'll see. I like it, my little T25 acts like a bigger turbo, thus the reason why i'll be going bigger with a T3 setup in the future.
BTW, I got avg 25 mpg over a 1400 mile roadtrip in march. I wasn't trying to stay out of boost at all.

The T3S60 in 3rd Gear will make 10 PSI boost as low as 3000 rpm even on a 1.6.

Nice to know because I might end up going the T3S60 route.

Do you say this just because of his wastegate issues? So shouldn't putting a new Internal Wastegate on a good turbo eliminate these issues?

I'm not really sure why I even asked such a dumbass question about the highway boost :gay: . I guess I haven't driven my Saab Aero in almost a month so I forgot how turbos act HEH.

No he says that because for some reason I don't make full boost(7psi) till around 4500 rpm on a turbo that should start spooling at 1800 rpm. I'm not sure what causes it, I might have an exhaust leak that I can't find or it's because of my awkward external wastegate setup. If you look at my vbgarage you'll see what we're talking about. It is a less than ideal setup. I bought the car this way with plans to change everything. It came with the built motor so I couldn't b*#ch to much.

Ok thanks for clarifying Chad. I have been hunting down a few snails here and there hoping to find something good that doesn't need a rebuild right now. Yeah getting a good car with a built motor, I guess I'd be pretty happy about it too HEH.

Ok well T25 .80 trim aquired!!!

So this question is for the people that track their cars. I'm under the impression that Voodoo box allows you to control fuel every 1,000 revs and PC Pro eveyr 500. Is this true and is it worth the extra bling when I could get a Voodoo box for about 200 bucks less? The main reason I ask is because I will be borrowing from the turbo fund for a Sparco seat soon. I need more support while beating up big boy cars.
