Sorry for the abuse you are getting Toby. There are a lot of people where who seem to think "drifting" automatically makes you retarded.

In any case, unfortunately there isn't a whole lot of 'love' for DSM T2s. It can be done, but for the most part you'd be best off fabbing up your own log style manifold and making your own downpipe. Not sure why you have to prove you are capable of doing such to everyone else on the internet but it's definitely do-able for the prices you are looking at. Megasquirt is gonna be your friend on getting tuning for fuel and ignition without busting the budget too much.

I don't think you'd be able to pull 250 hp out of it, but you can definitely get 200, and I know you don't have any problems with tire roasting, if you need em to spin more just add more tire pressure.

drftroadster 04-13-2010 02:41 PM

As for engine management, i thought about Megasquirt, or emanage. There is a blue locally with software but the harness is all hacked up Its only $100.

hustler 04-13-2010 02:42 PM

I want to see pics of your awesome fab work. Lets see the filler-rod mounds. Fabricating turbo manifolds is easy, its just hot pipes with air in them.

and I hate reading my rants to see errors that compromise my intellectual integrity...but considering the subject's company, I could transcribe a conversation from my child-hood miniature Yorkie and convey intellectual superiority.

ok, let me clarify.. i never said I was the one fabricating.. access to these things doesnt mean im the one fabricating..

"Hey dude, I have access to a TIG!"

translation:

"I am going to pay someone to weld this for me. I've never felt a woman."

With a 400lb vibrational nightmare on one end, and a 15lb turbo at the other, which also has 12 ft of exhaust leveraged against it.

budget id like to stay under 1k..

I think maybe one person on this forum has done that...and he used bandaids and lots of crappy welding.

I did it, with real engine management and a kit that bolted up in 6hrs, for $2k.

Keep saving, make life easy on yourself. Or just be delusional and never know what it's like to crush the ego of the asshole in the $30K car he thinks is fast.

That's like saying "it's all pink on the inside" to justify fucking fat chicks.

fixed

Realistically, if you want to drift this car and make it through at least 3-events or so, you'll need a $3500 kit from ABSURDflow with TiAL parts, either a used $200 "radiator barn" like mine or a trackspeed radiator for $500, $100 oil cooler, $200 or so in fittings and oil lines for the turbo and oil cooler, $500 for MS in any capacity at a minimum, $100 in heat shielding, $350 clutch ($1k if you want the badass 949 clutch), $500 for a 6-speed, and a few others that I've forgotten.

Sure, there are probably people out there running FM or BEGi manifolds, but they aren't running them for long without working on them and the turbo is rarely if ever sealed to the manifold. Some new tech was pioneered over here that may change that, but this does not change the frequent warping of cast iron. Tracking a turbo car reliably is not cheap. I have the wrecked bank account to prove it and I'm nowhere near competitive.

hustler 04-13-2010 02:59 PM

awwwe, look...those meanies at the turbo forum just answered your questions, even though you are insignificant and generally rude. You better kiss my ass or I'm going to delete that shit and ban you. I'm also plugging your GF, btw. She's a whore, and has very large sex organs, and clearly accommodated several reproductive organs from basketball teams.

Actually I did it. Course I managed to pick up a steal bargain when Flyin' Miata had a AVO kit, minus intercooler turbo and management for 400 dollars. So add T25 that I rebuilt myself, add Megasquirt and a bargain for $60 dollar bar and plate intercooler, and I have a very nice quality build for cheap.

drftroadster 04-13-2010 03:07 PM

No my gf left me because im an asshole, she could possibly be a whore. thank you i dont know much about turbo charging a car.. im not an expert fabricator, i can weld im not great at it but i can.. trust me i dont want this to look like the 1.8 car that some kid built and i bought.. the manifold leaks so bad that it never actually hits 3psi.

That in itself is pretty impressive. With the waste gate wired open mine still hit 6psi when I didn't have an exhaust.

gospeed81 04-13-2010 03:12 PM

Seriously...go through the build thread subforum.

There's a pretty damn awesome tube front drifter build that's almost wrapping up as well. Way outta your budget, but more impressive for the fab work than the money thrown at it.
