considering that going MS will be my first step for power mods, this will eventually be relevant to me, but i have AC, and i kinda like it, so what are the options?

-screw MS, go for band-aids.
-screw AC, remove weight, attempt to burn out moisture on inside of glass in snow instead of just getting rid of it(DD in snowland, i like AC)
-wait till MS comes out with AC control
-run stock ECU along with MS(unelegant :-( )
-wiat for a response from someone...or is this a bit too much thread drift...

 

A/C is largely irrelevant. Yes, in the stock config the ECU plays a role in activating it, however there's nothing going on there that couldn't be accomplished with a couple of diodes and relays.

The alternator would be my concern. So far as I am aware (and Brainy, correct me if I'm wrong) nobody has come up with a way to control the NB Alternator with a Megasquirt.

So the logical option here would be to use a parallel Megasquirt. Put the MS in control of fuel and timing, but leave the stock ECU in place to worry about the alternator, the A/C, and the idle control.

Or, of course, you could install an alternator from an earlier car.

 

yeah theres are people here running it in piggyback form. however, i've never done it, and know nothing about some of the changes in that model year.

well i like my ac and so does my girlfriend plus i live in orlando, fl (EXTREAMLY HOTTT!!!) so ac is a must i would prefer to do a piggy back for now so i can keep my ac untill ms comes out with they full stand alone for my year...

 

Chad once told me all he needed to do is swap in a internally regulated alternator to run standalone. As far as AC i think Chad has it and it works just fine. The problem is mostly with idle droop from poor AIC control. I would talk to Jerry, Arga, and Chad etc. Before i gave up on this and made a decission.

for my AC, i didnt mention that I have a 94. so I can wire up a few things to get AC working? which miata alternators dont work?

im not scared of wiring up stuff, as part of computer science, we had to learn some electrical stuff, to feel empathy for the EE majors i guess.

The NB alternators are controlled via the ecu instead of being internally regulated like the other alternators.
