hey good luck with your turbo setup. I have a t25 manifold and downpipe. Im happy with it as there are many different options for it. If you need any help deciding just ask. Also i have a t25 off of a 300zx twin turbo i would get rid of(ceramic coated and powdercoated, freshly rebuilt)

Are you trying to get banned? Post whoring, especially trying to sell parts outside the selling section, is deeply frowned upon.

Not wanting to create a new thread but this is the closest one to the answer i need. From what iv read on other threads, T25's are not that great.

So my question is. Why not use a DSM 14b? Their just as plentiful (at least in my area) as a t25 is. Do they not use the standard t2/t3 flange?

My plan was to pick up a 14b from a buddy but not sure it would bolt up correctly on the exhaust side. I have no means of keeping this small turbo for long so being able to upgrade without replacing my downpipe is pretty important.

That's one of the benifits of using the T25 (from the SR20DET). It's outline interchangeable with the Garrett GT25 series turbos so future upgrades are a breeze. I'm really enjoying my T25 so far and you can't beat $50.

Well i know i can get either turbo for about 40 bucks. But they are both still dsm turbo's. Guess it wouldnt matter with the t25. Should probably stick with it if im going to follow any kind of upgrade path.

Thanks for the input.

Ok people... I finally have a manifold for my 1.6. :noob:

It says it takes a T3. ( ? )

I'm not looking for a lot of power at least at first because the rear and clutch are OEM

What turbo numbers do I look for ?

What cars in existence will have a suitable turbo ?

What about places offering refurbished turbo chargers ?

Last, What about the China Charger from BEGI ?

Thanks

Just went with a good hybrid setup I came up with a conjunction of Nissan and Saab turbos. 60 trim compressor housing and wheel off a Nissan T3, and stage 1 turbine off a Saab turbo...makes for a good street turbo, with a good power range I have heard 250-260hp range I believe, somebody correct me if im wrong...

Or you could go with a Saab/Volvo turbo like the 45 trims, .42/.48AR they are Garrett T3s and spool VERY quick. Easy to find cheap too.

Better hit them junkyards if you're looking for Garrett standard T3s...

Any Flea bay vendors you guys had better luck with than others ?

Also- What do you actually end up paying to ship to the states? I saw a T3 for $90.00 !!!! I assume they make you pay Import duty or something……. :jerkit:

Cheers!!

Braineack 10-25-2010 11:56 AM

mine was $175 shipped. I sent it to Begi for them to port the wastegate for me.

You must make sure you get the t3 50 trim. not a t3/t4 71mm compressor.

a 60mm compressor.

import duty? who are you?

Any one know about the subaru wrx turbos? my buddy said hed sell me his for 50 bucks, all nice very low miles but its got a crazy exhaust flange and id rather stay away form that unless it is a killer turbo. Also everyone is talking about not wanting to go with a 14b due to restrictions when it comes to upgrading, this is false. I used to own a dsm and you can get a turbo big or small enough to do whatever you want with that dsm flange. Check out slowboyracing.com. also you could get lucky and score a 20g off a mitsu box truck if u got a truck yard around.

I ran 2 19Ts in my Stealth and put down a little over 500awhp. We had to machine the stock 9b exhaust housings for the 19t chras. Not as much flow as the TD05 housings and I deff wasnt able to see the stupid numbers the evo III 16g guys were getting, but my power was much smoother.

the best junkyard turbo is the SR20 T25.

Just a tidbit of information concerning the list on page 1...

It lists that it was the Mustang GT that had the turbo that is incorrect. Mustang GT's have ALWAYS had V8's. The turbo mustangs were called SVO's and shared the funky bi-level wing of the merkurs.

GT (notice the normal little lip on the back):

Mustang SVO, bi-level wing (also has a hood scoop):

If you're looking for the T3 with the .60 A/R turbine housing, you can find them on the following cars:

'84 - '86 T-Bird Turbocoupe (manual trans, I believe auto as well)
'85-'89 Merkur XR4Ti (MANUAL ONLY, the Auto had a .48 A/R turbine housing)
ANY Mustang SVO.

You'd never guess I used to have two Merkur XR4Ti's, one of which had a mustang T5 tranny swap, custom intercooler setup utilizing a saab radiator and an ebay I/C, larger SVO vane air meter, and a big fat turbonetics T3/T4 :bigtu:

I happen to have a couple of these Merkur turbos laying around... If I'm ever able to free up some dough, that's the one that'll end up on the Miata.
