hi everyone, im new to the forum as well as miatas. im building an exocet using a 2004 madaspeed so i have to find a new location for the intercooler. my question is do i need to keep all 3 ports coming from the throttle body duct. one port is for a sensor, another port goes to the bov and a third port(small hose) goes somewhere. i tried to make a new duct with these ports using the old duct and gluing it to a 2.5 inch silicone coupler but have been unsuccesful. any advice would be helpful, sorry if im not using the correct names of parts.

Port 1: "a sensor" what sensor? Figure it out and we can tell you if it needs to be there. The only sensor that should be referencing the air pre throttle body should be inlet air temp but you need to make sure that's what it is. Inlet air temp sensors can be put in the cold side of the intercooler with minimal tools and effort.
Port 2: "goes to the bov" Are you sure? A BOV won't function at all with a reference before the throttle body. If that is for the BOV it's not where you want it.
Port 3: "goes somewhere" Yeah it probably does. If you gave more detail or did the leg work to figure out wtf it's going to we could probably tell you whether it needs to be there.
What I'm getting at is you asked a question and gave insufficient information. You shouldn't be asking shops to make a custom part when you have no idea what the part actually needs to do.

In general I agree with you @SpartanSV, but port 2 is very likely actually the BOV port. Not the reference for the BOV, but the actual escape for the pressurized air when the throttle plate is snapped shut.

only wrote this thread to see if I could put something together at home but it seems having a custom pipe made is definitely the way to go..
