How would one build a miata if money wasn't a problem? It can be NA or NB, no swaps unless you would like to put an NB engine in an NA.

You'd replicate a basic build with a junkyard head and shorty manifold among other things? Way to aim low lol
Not to take anything away from that cool car, but:
The reason his build is so awesome is because he's doing so much with such a basic list of ingredients.

Since this thread is a waste of time I'm not gonna write out a full list, but it'd start with one of Emilios CNC heads, some custom vvt cams, a fully built 1.9 or 2.0 short block with either the FM wisecos or some other pistons that are way better than what we have OTS now, biller gears, damper, blablablah, baller manifold feeding an EFR, blablablah, xida's or something like that.

something like that

Basically crusher, without silly hp/tq caps. Maybe add sequential tranny.

I should post a build thread for Theseus soon. It's just about what you would do if money were zero object. Forged VVT longblock, Honda IM w/ 75mm TB, ID1300s, E85, EFR7064 twinscroll, 3.5" downpipe, AEM EMS, Racelogic TCS, Quaife 5-speed, 3.63/3.31 OS Giken (haven't decided which ratio I'm keeping), DSS axles, 0.500" V8R rear hubs, NB front subframe/rack, AL drop spindles, custom lengthened AST 5100s, front/rear widebody, 15x10 6ULs on 275/35 Hoosiers, Wilwoods on all four corners, Racepak IQ3, <10lb carbon hardtop, <1900lb curb weight, Kognition 64" rear wing, and a dozen other things I've probably forgotten about. I've been amassing parts for it for about two years now, and I just need a little time to show up to start assembling things.

Not built for any particular race class aside from SCCA ITE/NASA SU (unlimited classes). No race secrets like the PTE car - the build will be an open book. It's become more of a technical exercise to show what can be done with the NA/NB platform if you were to simply lose your mind.

I'm liking Savington's answer the best because of the nice detailed list. I read that, and it makes me wonder what half the stuff is. But to be honest, that just means that it is better than anything I could imagine. I still have lots of research to do.

My build, but finished and without all the things I did to trade off the last 5% of performance to save $$$.

Sav, why not the V8R front subframe for the weight savings? 10-12lbs iirc.
