All the more reason to do it, he'll be on his way to a 1.8 diff swap in no time once he blows the 1.6

15.2 @ 101.7 is funny to look at, but it shows there's a lot more potential there, i've never been on the strip before so i'm sure i'd suck but it's all in fun

my last run of the night last year, i got paired with an 89? gxt ....
dude had slicks on all fours...
and a 4 inch dump right under the driver side door, aiming right at me
ive never seen flames so big
dude dumped clutch at like 5k, and was off
he finished just as i got into 3rd
he ran a low 9.....

very depressing.

who did u pair against? how were the runs?
i want some fast and furious story here lol

It's hard believe that 15+ sec miata had a trap speed of 101 mph. Even with a stall launch at 1200 rpm with 60' time of 2.35 I was able to run 14.7sec ET.
Man, with a 101 trap you will be in low 13s after you change that diff and nail it from the start. Here is a link the the 14.7 sec run.

thats a real high trap speed for that et. if you just slip the clutch a little more you'll shave a second or two off of that time. i only trapped 102 at my highest and i ran a 13.6 on stock tires.

Man, I was bracket racing a guy who has a dial-in of 17.71 sec. - My dial-in was 15.50 sec. Catching the guy was no problem, catching without breaking out of my bracket- big problem. The solution- easy off the line for a good reaction time and run the guy down. My reaction time was too good by .020 second which means red- the other guy wins! When I saw the red light I knew I lost so I made a no sandbagging pass. When I launch the car for full speed pass my 60' are 1.97-2.08 sec., 14.20-14.45 ETs, and 94- 97 mph. This clip show how important a good reaction time is in bracket racing.

you can see I did so bad because of my launch... im sure if I was confidant in the diff i should be in the 14s.. I had a pretty good 1/4 mile speed.
Uhm... Just FYI: My best friends old LT1 camaro ran 2.8 60's, 13.2 1/4s, and 103mph trap speeds. You've got a LOT better time potential with a 101mph trap.

F&F story? well I lined up next to a civic that said turbo on the side (a la porsche) and he has some mad gansta lean goin on. So he pulls like 2 to 3 cars on me by the time im outta 2ed gear, then once I hit third I start pullin on him harder and harder and it was all over by the 1000 ft, beat him by 2 car lenghts. I did that twice.

well its nice to know I have such potental

Yea man, you should be high to mid 13's with a trap speed like that. I'm just basing this off of what other cars run at similar mph, so obviously there will be some variation but as you said always nice to know the potential is there. Keep us updated on your next visit to the track, i'm interested to see how low you can get those numbers(after adequate measures have been taken of course lol)!

in comparison

this was me in my civic last year

r/t was .059
60' was 1.9 in a fwd turd
1/4 was 15 flat at 92 miles an hour

u should be much faster,
improve ur driving, tires, and reaction time

back peddle off the line, or get better tires, or both,
ur spinning wayyy to much
ur reaction time was not as good as it could be
and ur 60 foot was absolutely horrible

the good news is ur car is much faster than u make it out to be,

u just need to tame it....

RT has ZERO effect on ET, and .079 isn't terrible, especially for the guy's first time to the dragstrop. Your time you are bragging about is only .02 - that's 2 one hundredths of a second - faster.

To the OP - as many have said, you just need to work on your launch. It is not easy on street tires, especially if you are running 200+ WHP on 205s or smaller. You have to find the sweet spot of the proper RPM to start revving at, and how quickly to slip the clutch. Work on that, and your ET should easily get to the low 14s on street tires, judging by your MPH.

Launching your first time at the strip can be tough, and scary.

My first time to the strip with my S4, I ran 14.2s with a 2.2 60'. That's in a 400 lb-ft torque AWD car- pretty sad. I was just too scared to dump the clutch and really hit it hard. Next time I'll hopefully see my times drop into the mid-to-low 13s if I drive better.

ya something is funny bout your car. do you know how much power your putting down because on street tires 12psi on a t25 making ~200whp my buddys went 8.6 @84 and then at a later date we put drag slicks on and did an 8.2 i think it was in 106 degree heat.

even though you didn't launch it hard if the car was making some power you'd see it pick up from the 330 to the 1/8 but its but its the same as the
60' to the 330

since when do people actually care about reaction times??? Just take your time and get a sick low 2.0 2.1 60 ft and you should be high 13's. How many times did you run?
