spending all my high school income on a 30 year old car
Dealership said they could overnight the new bolt so I can wait a day, is this bolt loosening a precursor to anything else that I should check before I take the car off jacks?
nah, they come loose sometimes, vibration and undertightening generally.. torque a new one down with some blue loctite for piece of mind but make sure the captive nut at the top isnt just spinning , do a bolt check whilst youre down there to be safe.
thats like 10psi at sea lvl right? I dont think thatll blow ur 5 speed unless ur mechanically abusive but i suppose thats subject to lots of variables.
Finallt recieved the right ppf bolt (dealership ghosted me….) but for some reason it’s not catching the threads in the hole, the bolt has to be pressed in quite tight and it never starts tightening. Any ideas?
New problem, the clutch has become super hard to manage in 1st. It feels like there’s wheel hop even when I start really slow and sometimes smoke comes from the trans tunnel. Burnt clutch?
sounds clutch chatter esq. old advice i remember was dumping the clutch in 3rd. Anyone else have any idea about this?
Clutch worn down to rivets
Clutch material broken off from beneath rivets
Slave cylinder not fully disengaging clutch
Damaged throwout bearing
Leaking rear main seal or trans input seal putting oil on clutch friction material
Internal transmission damage (multiple gears trying to engage)
^ just off the top of my head. Could be other things also.

Your chatter sounds particularly bad, which makes me suspect an oil leak or something. Hotspots on the pressure plate of course are the normal culprit, but in my experience that chatter is possible to live with. My current clutch pulses/chatters more than I'd like but it's still completely livable even for daily driving. I've been trying to smooth it out by slipping the **** out of it (see the other comment about a 3rd gear clutch slip to bed it in), which seems to help a bit. I definitely didn't try it in 3rd gear though, maybe I should give that a shot. I blame the used lightweight flywheel that already had a bit of hotspots on it. I got it for cheap so it is what it is.
Unfortunately if it's as bad as you say things are going to have to come apart to fix it. Oh, the joys of project cars!
