Default T25/T28 Used Costs

I'm trying to part together a DIY kit for my 1.8. I'm in no rush but have been on the lookout for sr20 turbos. Wanted to know what a great "deal" would be on a used turbo

I recently bought one that needs rebuild and was missing an actuator for $70. I bought 2 complete sr20 turbos (both had stuff wrong with them, but 1 good one could've been made from the 2) I paid like $40? Found them on Craigslist.
Figure with finding the turbo and buying a rebuild kit, you should have around $150 invested if you play your cards right.

I've seen "minimal shaft play" t25s go on zilvia for $125-175. They practically give the things away.

Check Zilvia. Typical minimal shaftplay turbos are about $120 ish. Alot of seller rebuild them and sell them for about $300. A usable BB t28 or 2560 equivalent go for $350-$450 ish. I've found two t25s with very minimal shaft play for $70 shipped and IMO that's a steal.

Ok so I have a few options here. I'm in no rush to get a turbo so I can wait but I'm trying to get the best bang for buck and negotiations

Brand new Garrett T25 - He wants $250 (I think way over priced)
1 slightly used journal bearing t25 from s13 - $100
1 ball bearing t28 for s13 - $250
1 brand new GT2871R - $350 with 1 year warranty
1 slightly used SR20 T25 - $150
1 "no shaft play" T25 from RB20DET - $50

The FM and BEGI manifold are T2 flange manifolds right? That would throw away the T25 from the RB20DET as I think they are T3 flanges?

I'd buy the slightly used journal bearing t25 from s13.

ya, I doubt that's a brand new 2871R.

I vote the t28 bb if it's in good condition. It's the equivalent for gt2560r that alot of people here run and spools pretty quickly and can make enough power to blow your engine.

if not the $100 one if it's closer to your price range.

Yeah the BB T28 is probably the best choice there assuming the GT2871R is chinese or not ball bearing.

What are your goals.......And don't answer that vaguely or I'll write you off as a worthless noob and never answer your questions again.

Then pick the turbo sizing that will hands down meet those goals. ONLY THEN start comparing similar sized turbos vs their pricing.

The way I see it now, anyone comparing a genuine SR garrett t25 to a china 2871, to a T3 footprint RB25 turbo has no clue what the heck they're doing and is WASTING EVERYONE'S TIME with silly stupid questions.

The guy is selling two turbos. He told me that one is a stock sr20 garrett t25 and the other is a brand new sr20det 2871r turbo with a garrett center section.

As far as what I'm looking to use the car for, I have a 90 NA with a T28 on it and I'm beginning to piece together a kit for my NB. Looking for 200-250rwhp to hold me over. If I end up wanting more, then I'm going to have to begin building up the motor and will upgrade the turbo at a future date.

There is no SR20DET 2871r. If it's brand new, at $350 it is a churbo. Real GT2871r's go for ~$1300 new.

Other things he doesn't have is an S13 BB turbo, because they don't exist. If it was from an S14 it might be BB, S15s are (but you won't get one of those for $250).
