Default help me choose a bigger turbo

Hello i have a 1.6L with a mspnp full 2.5" exhaust, intercooler, lc1 wideband and currently a t25 with .49 turbine and .48 compreser running 13psi. The current turbo will not support my hp goals(230+). What do you guys with this hp think would be a good value turbo. Ive been looking at the chinacharger route if i cant find a used gt2560. I am looking at the Gt2870r with .82turbine and .60compressor. I can get it for 240$. Also i need it to fit a t2 flange thanks alot

2871 .86 is a huge turbo, 400whp+. You want a .64 turbine T25, essentially your current turbo with just a slightly larger turbine A/R. A 2560R would be perfect, and I've seen a few used recently.

Yup. I had a turbo on my car a while back with a .49 comp and .48 turbine. It was actually from a early 80's sunbird? It was JUNK. The spool was right there, but the boost would bleed off as the RPM's got high. I would highly recommend in your case an SR20 T25. They are dirt cheap, and even cheaper to rebuild, and they make very good power. What kind of power are you making at 13psi now? You would make 230 with an SR-20, I'm sure of it.

A gt2860rs with a .64 hotbox might be cool...have fun with that $1200 experiment.

The SR20 T25 is not a good choice for 230whp on a 1.6... you're going to be in the 16-17psi range and really past it's efficiency. Torque simply won't be there compared to a 2560.

It's a great choice on a budget for 200whp, but any more and you're definitely into 2554r territory and if there's any chance you'll want more than 230whp, a 2560r can't be beat for spool and midrange torque.

thanks alot guys im scoping out 2 different 2560's right now. Ive been looking at every bit of research on garretts website and others and that seems like a great choice. Also im running a hks manifold and a 3inch downpipe.
