So would it be a safe bet to get an HKS Manifold, and than have them fab it up, and i'll install it? How long approx. does it take to actually design a downpipe for car. I mean i don't see it taking more than a few hours.

Just make sure they'd make it out of mandrel bent exhaust pieces. Otherwise, you'll end up with a crush-bent piece of crap downpipe. Personally, I'd try to get Tony to do something. He has experience with Miata downpipes, so has figured out decent routes and good clearances, etc.

I dunno how much Tony will be able to help since you'd be using a HKS manifold on a 94....

While it was for a 1.6, he made a custom manifold and downpipe for 96Talispe, which I bought before he used. Bottom mount, 3" downpipe transition to 2.5". Fit surprisingly well, except for the fact that the downpipe didn't quite reach the cat.
