Took the Chinacharger T3 turbo plunge! (now with logs)
same everything, just a different turbo?
also i didnt thing garrett made a "super 60" just a 60 trim.
correct me if im wrong but i thought it was turbonetics with the SUPER

No, the Super 60 wheel came on some old dodge I cant remember, maybe the Grand National as well.
It's pretty much the difference between the 2560 wheel and 2860 wheel, it has a .07" larger inducer than a standard 60 trim T3 wheel. Consider it a 62 trim...
The 60 trim wheel can support around 35 lb/min and can compare to a 2560 wheel.

The 50 trim wheel can support around 27 lb/min and it more comparable to a 2554 wheel:

I was hoping with this wheel, not only would I get faster spool, but more mid range torque than before. I knew I'd lose top end. Still drive damn nice, faster spool, but just a loss after 5.5K. If I want that extra top end back i just need to add a pound or two, no biggie.

Turbonetics made the super60 for dodge as part of a 300 hp package sold by dodge for the turbo 2.2's. I think it may have had something to do with their shelby relationship too.
That's a nice torque curve! Congrats. Really, I like how that comes on nice and early.
You know, maybe some headwork is called for. Do you have any? The simple stuff like deshrouding and port matching will help your top end - making more power on less boost is what's up.
If you have EBC or ... Are you taking your wastegate signal at the turbo? That could be it.

Having that extra 30 ft-lb of torque at 3.5K makes a world of difference. This is why I'm unsure I'll switch back.
But im still unsure what that large *** turbine blade is doing, so I might go swapping things around again. Put together a true Garrett T3 50 trim with real genuine parts and see how the effects it.

look how much bigger the ebay inducer blade is, the exducer is the same.
I has the above mentioned headwork.
Running MBC only, EBC is to switch from wastegate to MBC, it's spooling the same on or off.
Taking signal from after IC.

It is if you have sub par tuning skills.

Yes, unless you know what you're doing tuning wise.
Don't be gay..

Yeah, those are my ideas for EASY top end losses. Do you have EBC on the MS-I? I think you're right, more boost will fill in the top end. It could be a restrictive intake making you lose top end due to extra heat required to ram the air through....
Restrictive exhaust might possibly be killing top end, but I think you're car is fairly well put together.
Nice!

Nice!
So, you're saying bigger turbos make more top end power, and smaller ones spool quicker?
We should write the President! Perhaps this could be our new secret weapon! :-P Do the maps support this, that you're running out of steam up there?

Thanks for the good testing, the results were pretty good for the price point.
I for one hope you keep with it as i would be interested in your long term opinion on reliability.

pretty much, the wheel should still be able to support around 220-230rwhp, but i still was hoping for a more robust mid-range. It's really hard to say what effect the turbine has. I might throw in my true 50 trim come spring and compare for ***** and giggles.
Will have to compare numbers. Mine 'should' be finished today and hopefully have some dyno plots by Sat for the MSPNP tuning. Very similair turbos, .42A/R with a 50 trim on a T3. We ran out of room with the WG housing plate (with the 3" down pipe) so we set it up for an external WG.

False alarm. I had been fooling with the wastegate over the weekend and I fitted a new cat and proceeded to failboat.
I was hearing a weird rattling noise if I blipped the throttle and the boost was very slow. The boost onset was due to my improper plumbing of the MBC, I used the top port of my wastegate without thinking when I put things back together. The noise was a combination of two things, first the cat I just installed has a leak at the flange so I need to redo the seal, and second, I had my wastegate arm too loose and the flapper was rattling.
All is still well.
