break out the actuator, thanks Tim
huh?
"yes" or "no" works best. |
Im sorry. Yes but break it out, so I know the pricing for the two separately.
ahh I see now :bigtu: ok give me a little bit
No hurry Tim, thanks for the help
Sorry Loki, that smaller GT25xx turbine is not available seperately, just the larger GT28xx :vash:
fuckkkkk me....
I'm telling you.... external! ;p

im telling you no! Plus is a v-band. Loki dont want no stinking vband.
Vbands rule... you are missing out. All the cool kids do it.
I assume you just got that housing on ebay?
It was off a member here over a year ago. Then we v-banded it just like we did to the one on my civic and miata.
Darnit. I thought the GT2560 was refered as the GT28. Or am i reaching here?
Thats possible, when I got it, it was supposed to be a gt28/gt28rs or something turbine housing. It doesn't fit on my gt28rs though. So we figured it was actually a gt25 turbine housing. Come test fit it, seriously.
I will when the turbo comes! Thank you. Is there a model/serial number we could get off of the housing?
449010-1
Only few references I've found say gt25 or gt25bb or gt28bb etc... |
Well if it fits, maybe I can order something from that number. At least we have a start.
Tim can you reference the turbine housing you have access to? |
The turbine housing option I have access to is the standard "option" for the larger T2 series turbine wheels of 53.8mm (as opposed to 53.0mm). The garrett P/N is 430609-230 for the 0.64 A/R housing, 430609-231 for the 0.86 housing. I called my garrett supplier and asked if the gt2554 or gt2560 turbine housing (same item) was available seperate and they said no. Booo.
I don't have a 2554 or 2560 available off a car currently so I can't verify the casting number. Maybe Paul can take a look? the one on my subaru is well hidden :( The belive 430609-230 .64 housing would techinally bolt on (I believe they are the same casting as the 2560's 0.64 housing) but the outlet hole around the turbine wheel is machined noticeably larger...much more than 0.8mm. So you'd probably get very little or slow boost, like clipping your turbine wheel. |

i have a 2554 in the living room. brb...
ok. first here is a pic of your gt2554r tim but its of the intake housing.
http://www.inoneear.com/outtheother/...202781%201.JPG the one i have here on the exhaust housing says: A/R .49 M56 OH-1 2/2 the intake side says: A/R .48 3-1/1 M24 |
My housing is the .64 AR one. So that won't match up with the stampings for that turbine casting.
i can't get anywhere near the casting #s on my 2560 while it's installed. sorry

hmmm. identify it then.
what exactly are these A/R numbers then because my 2560 has a smaller A/R than the specs you just listed for the 54, my 60 says A/R of 60 as you can see in the above pic urbansoot, are you reading this? |

It's not in my '07 or '08 garrett catalog. |
Guess i could just pick up a trashed T25 and use the housing..
I really dont like my idea, anyone got better ones?
:cough:
I have a shitty T25, but the flapper assembly is taken out of the turbine housing. Not sure how you would use it but it's for sale.. cheap.
how cheap is cheap? what AR?

the 2560 has a 60mm wheel. which technically would make it a t28. it shares more in common with the 2854 or 2860 than the 2554. |

I can make a local deal for the turbine housing... I also have a used SSautocrome tial 38mm knockoff that I'd sell for a couple more bucks...
so i take it you bought that 2560 with the odd turbine housing?

I haven;t even gotten the turbo yet, so I am not in a huge hurry. for all i know it fits the manifold and dp. Doest anyone have a good picture of the DP flange that standard GT25s use? |
looks like the ones on the GT-iR housings off the JDM GTRs
Since my downpipe is two piece maybe beig will work out a deal with me for just the top peice with that flange (assuming it fits the maniflold)
Or just buy a trashed T25 |
want a sleeve turbo with the same specs as a 2560?
if i can rip the turbine housing and use it sure.
Resell your odd turbo on ebay and buy this:
https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14084 You said yourself you wanted it. Do it. You deserve it. You're a great guy. You only live once, may as well have the big turbo. |

it wouldn't be a turbo to rip apart. you can always buy an old junker like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissa...spagenameZWDVW turbine is something like 44mm, should be the same: http://www.boostedmiata.com/lars_t25/larst25004.jpg |
but then i saw the power paul was making :)
No i think ill see how this turbo is and my options. I just like to plan ahead Anyone see anything wrong with getting a trashed T2 turbine housing? Brain unless its free id have to pass now, or ungodly cheap |

I honestly don't know much about the T2 turbos or if they have that 6 bolt center section-to-turbine housing flange. |
To be honest, i just wanted the cheaper turbo option to get up and running
Oh heres the specs off the turbo
Compressor In: 1.83" Ex: 2.638" Turbine In:2.083" Ex:1.824" Whatever Splitime had it definitely didn't fit (I wonder if it was a normal T2 turbine?) Thanks for letting me give that a try |
2.638" is what 67mm? that's bigger than a 2860.
however the turbine seems to be the same size as a 2554. |
what crappy ass combo. God i hope i can get a different housing
Tim can you take some measurements off that GT2871 you have and see if that housing is the same? |
Ignore everything i wrote. I am so fucking sick. I cant even think straight.
