Where to buy turbine house for a GT2560?

Saml01 01-07-2008 02:47 PM

Wideopentuning

ebay

Loki047 01-07-2008 02:54 PM

Yeah i know those two, but i like to expand my horizons

TurboTim 01-07-2008 02:57 PM

You can try me. I'll guess and say around $195

Loki047 01-07-2008 02:58 PM

Oh with internal waste gate... shipped to 60148

Splitime 01-07-2008 03:01 PM

Forget internal... go external... buy mine :p

Loki047 01-07-2008 03:02 PM

Actuator too?

Loki047 01-07-2008 03:12 PM

break out the actuator, thanks Tim

TurboTim 01-07-2008 03:33 PM

huh?

"yes" or "no" works best.

Loki047 01-07-2008 03:49 PM

Im sorry. Yes but break it out, so I know the pricing for the two separately.

TurboTim 01-07-2008 04:00 PM

ahh I see now :bigtu: ok give me a little bit

Loki047 01-07-2008 04:11 PM

No hurry Tim, thanks for the help

TurboTim 01-08-2008 08:12 AM

Sorry Loki, that smaller GT25xx turbine is not available seperately, just the larger GT28xx :vash:

Loki047 01-08-2008 09:30 AM

fuckkkkk me....

Splitime 01-08-2008 09:51 AM

I'm telling you.... external! ;p
http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/th...8Medium%29.jpg

Loki047 01-08-2008 09:55 AM

im telling you no! Plus is a v-band. Loki dont want no stinking vband.

Splitime 01-08-2008 10:02 AM

Vbands rule... you are missing out. All the cool kids do it.

Loki047 01-08-2008 10:21 AM

I assume you just got that housing on ebay?

Splitime 01-08-2008 10:23 AM

It was off a member here over a year ago. Then we v-banded it just like we did to the one on my civic and miata.

Loki047 01-08-2008 10:45 AM

Darnit. I thought the GT2560 was refered as the GT28. Or am i reaching here?

Splitime 01-08-2008 10:52 AM

Thats possible, when I got it, it was supposed to be a gt28/gt28rs or something turbine housing. It doesn't fit on my gt28rs though. So we figured it was actually a gt25 turbine housing. Come test fit it, seriously.

Loki047 01-08-2008 10:55 AM

I will when the turbo comes! Thank you. Is there a model/serial number we could get off of the housing?

Splitime 01-08-2008 11:04 AM

449010-1

Only few references I've found say gt25 or gt25bb or gt28bb etc...

Loki047 01-08-2008 11:07 AM

Well if it fits, maybe I can order something from that number. At least we have a start.

Tim can you reference the turbine housing you have access to?

TurboTim 01-08-2008 12:27 PM

The turbine housing option I have access to is the standard "option" for the larger T2 series turbine wheels of 53.8mm (as opposed to 53.0mm). The garrett P/N is 430609-230 for the 0.64 A/R housing, 430609-231 for the 0.86 housing. I called my garrett supplier and asked if the gt2554 or gt2560 turbine housing (same item) was available seperate and they said no. Booo.

I don't have a 2554 or 2560 available off a car currently so I can't verify the casting number. Maybe Paul can take a look? the one on my subaru is well hidden :(

The belive 430609-230 .64 housing would techinally bolt on (I believe they are the same casting as the 2560's 0.64 housing) but the outlet hole around the turbine wheel is machined noticeably larger...much more than 0.8mm. So you'd probably get very little or slow boost, like clipping your turbine wheel.

No you are correct; GT28R is the old name for the GT2560R. That was confusing so ignore it; the new naming structure is much easier to understand. the first 2 digits refer to the frame size of the turbine wheel inducer. All GT25 units use a turbine wheel with 53.0mm inducer dia, all GT28 units use a 53.85mm dia.

paul 01-08-2008 12:31 PM

i have a 2554 in the living room. brb...

paul 01-08-2008 12:40 PM

ok. first here is a pic of your gt2554r tim but its of the intake housing.

http://www.inoneear.com/outtheother/...202781%201.JPG

the one i have here on the exhaust housing says:

A/R
.49
M56
OH-1
2/2

the intake side says:

A/R
.48
3-1/1
M24

Splitime 01-08-2008 12:40 PM

My housing is the .64 AR one. So that won't match up with the stampings for that turbine casting.

paul 01-08-2008 12:49 PM

i can't get anywhere near the casting #s on my 2560 while it's installed. sorry

2554 has a 0.64 A/R exhaust housing and a 0.80A/R intake housing. Yours is not a 2554 buddy.

paul 01-08-2008 01:54 PM

hmmm. identify it then.

what exactly are these A/R numbers then because my 2560 has a smaller A/R than the specs you just listed for the 54, my 60 says A/R of 60 as you can see in the above pic

urbansoot, are you reading this?

Right. A/R isn't the only spec.

2554 & 2560 have the same turbine. 53.0mm wheel diameter (inducer, largest diameter), 62 trim, .64 A/R

2554 compressor: 42.0mm inducer, 54.3mm exducer, 60trim, 0.80 A/R
2560 compressor: 46.5mm inducer, 60.0mm exducer, 60trim, 0.60 A/R

I can't identify your turbo. It's not in my '07 or '08 garrett catalog.

Loki047 01-08-2008 02:13 PM

Guess i could just pick up a trashed T25 and use the housing..

Loki047 01-08-2008 05:17 PM

I really dont like my idea, anyone got better ones?

Splitime 01-08-2008 05:32 PM

:cough:

cjernigan 01-08-2008 05:35 PM

I have a shitty T25, but the flapper assembly is taken out of the turbine housing. Not sure how you would use it but it's for sale.. cheap.

Loki047 01-08-2008 05:43 PM

how cheap is cheap? what AR?

splitime. tial 38mm's are cheap, around the cost of the turbine housing new if you could get it.

the 2560 has a 60mm wheel. which technically would make it a t28. it shares more in common with the 2854 or 2860 than the 2554.

Yeah but then i have to modify my downpipe and manifold.

Splitime 01-09-2008 10:12 AM

I can make a local deal for the turbine housing... I also have a used SSautocrome tial 38mm knockoff that I'd sell for a couple more bucks...

Braineack 01-09-2008 10:15 AM

so i take it you bought that 2560 with the odd turbine housing?

Loki047 01-09-2008 10:18 AM

Si. :sad2: well see how it works out.

I haven;t even gotten the turbo yet, so I am not in a huge hurry. for all i know it fits the manifold and dp.

Doest anyone have a good picture of the DP flange that standard GT25s use?

Dang no go.

Braineack 01-09-2008 10:46 AM

looks like the ones on the GT-iR housings off the JDM GTRs

Loki047 01-09-2008 10:49 AM

Since my downpipe is two piece maybe beig will work out a deal with me for just the top peice with that flange (assuming it fits the maniflold)

Or just buy a trashed T25

Braineack 01-09-2008 11:04 AM

want a sleeve turbo with the same specs as a 2560?

Loki047 01-09-2008 11:23 AM

if i can rip the turbine housing and use it sure.

TurboTim 01-09-2008 11:53 AM

Resell your odd turbo on ebay and buy this:

https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14084

You said yourself you wanted it. Do it. You deserve it. You're a great guy. You only live once, may as well have the big turbo.

it wouldn't be a turbo to rip apart.

you can always buy an old junker like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissa...spagenameZWDVW

turbine is something like 44mm, should be the same:

http://www.boostedmiata.com/lars_t25/larst25004.jpg

Loki047 01-09-2008 11:57 AM

but then i saw the power paul was making :)

No i think ill see how this turbo is and my options. I just like to plan ahead

Anyone see anything wrong with getting a trashed T2 turbine housing?

Brain unless its free id have to pass now, or ungodly cheap

With Absurdflow components! ;) I think everything he has was around $2k and with the exhaust an intercooler around 3.5k.

I honestly don't know much about the T2 turbos or if they have that 6 bolt center section-to-turbine housing flange.

Loki047 01-09-2008 01:43 PM

To be honest, i just wanted the cheaper turbo option to get up and running

Loki047 01-11-2008 09:22 AM

Oh heres the specs off the turbo

Compressor
In: 1.83"
Ex: 2.638"

Turbine
In:2.083"
Ex:1.824"

Whatever Splitime had it definitely didn't fit (I wonder if it was a normal T2 turbine?) Thanks for letting me give that a try

Braineack 01-11-2008 09:28 AM

2.638" is what 67mm? that's bigger than a 2860.

however the turbine seems to be the same size as a 2554.

Loki047 01-11-2008 09:36 AM

what crappy ass combo. God i hope i can get a different housing

Tim can you take some measurements off that GT2871 you have and see if that housing is the same?

Loki047 01-11-2008 09:40 AM

Ignore everything i wrote. I am so fucking sick. I cant even think straight.
