Default Changing injectors without Aftermarket ECU

I am using an FMU for fuel management on my 1.6, but I want to go higher HP than the stock injectors can get me. When reading the FAQ I see two different limits.

"the 1.6 ECU should be able to idle up to 305cc injectors. However, it will require tweaking the AFM idle-mixture settings and spring tension."

" The 1.6 ECU should be able to idle up to 330cc injectors. However it will require tweaking the AFM idle-mixture settings and spring tension."

I found a cheap set of 90-92 MX6/626/Probe Turbo 326cc injectors that I would like to use. So what is the consensus? No more than 305cc or 330cc?

It's not a hard-and-fast rule. As you increase injector size above stock, it will become progressively harder to achieve a stable idle and a proper open-loop mixture. There's not a magical cutoff point at which it stops working, just various opinions about how much is too much.

330cc injectors have been done before on the stock ECU. Whether you will find this situation agreeable is something only you can tell us. Just bear in mind that this represents a more than 50% increase over the stock injector flowrate, so don't be surprised when it idles like hell.

If you want to make more than ~150hp, you need to pitch that POS FMU and get real engine management.

anything larger than 1.8 injectors on your 1.6 and the idle will be ****.

but like Joe said: everyone's definition of "****" is different.

you can half *** your way around it and end up purchasing the REAL solution after wasting money and effort making this one work, or you can just skip the bs and get it now

Thanks for the replys. I am trying to get by on minimum for a few years while I save for the V8 . I am looking into MSPNP so I'll take a closer look to see whats involved. I'm also in socal so I may have to remove everything every two years to get through smog. I figured simpler would be better.

Definitely take a closer look at MS. You do it once. You do it right. You live happily ever after

He's got a 1.6- no need to even remove the MS.
