turbo rebuilds?
How much, in general ballparks, should it cost someone to rebuild a t25? and would it be worth it, or just find another used one... I think I can find one in decent shape that needs a rebuild for like 50 bucks...so thats why I'm asking...w/ inlet/outlet piping for 100.
Also, I'm in NC if you know of anybody.

Here's a rebuild kit on ebay... looks like it has everything:

I'm not sure if that is an actual "Garrett" kit, or just knockoff with all the right parts... and I'm not sure that it matters.

It looks like about $75 shipped is a good price for the kits. I've researched, and these kits replace almost everything except the housings, shaft, and wheels. If you can get a used turbo for $50 and spend $75 on a kit, you've basically got a new turbo... it should outlast the motor anyways... for $125. This is how I got mine. I expect the rebuild kit to arrive tomorrow and the turbo in another day or two. I'll be following the linked directions and doing the rebuild this weekend. I'll let you know how "hard" it actually was.
Have you decided what T25 you're going to go with... Mitsu, Nissan, Garrett universal. If a used one off a DSM is what you want: round turbine inlet and divorced turbine outlet, check craigslist:

Going with a t25 from a nissan, which should be the same as a factory garrett, for simplicity, since I know it will fit the BEGI manifold? I've PM'd a couple of guys on sr20forum, and my friend is getting a ca18det for his car, same t25 turbo, but is going with an upgraded turbo, so I may pick his up....
theres one for sale for ~50 bucks right now on the sr20 forum, waiting to hear back from the guy.
I didn't know how hard it was to rebuild...I thought it was a fairly complex deal? That would be awesome, let us know how hard it is.

If you can turn a wrench you can rebuild a turbo (I'm exaggerating a little here). In fact I just bought a rebuild kit for myself to do mine this weekend.

No need to rebalance the shaft. As long as you install the compressor wheel relative to the position it was installed prior, you should have no problems. Besides, I hear Garrett balances the turbine independently.
I was able to remove mine today with my rebuild kit comming Friday. I couldn't beat my record of removing the turbo in 15mins. It took me 34mins this time. I blame it on working outside in the rain & the new manifold.
Email the G-Pop Shop with your part number of the turbo and they can tell you how involved the rebuild will be.

I told you it's not hard. I'm rebuilding it this afternoon. The rear turbine seal was blown. I had oil and sludge all over the backside of the turbine.
I remember I used a different turbine wheel & shaft when I put this turbo together and didn't put a new seal on it. Who knows how old it was....
