Hey, I'm a noob having trouble finding info on the turbo that came uninstalled with my '90.

It's a Garrett, #'s on stamped plate are JIM025579, and 2901098000 (same as another thread here, except his numbers were JIM...(same) and "1901...")

Temporary goal is to run it with a Bipes, BEGI FPR, 1.8 injectors, and the mani and DP in the pics... and save up for a MSPNP or the like this summer, with proper I/C, wideband, Torsen, etc...

So... in all my noobness... how do I determine that this turbo is in fact approx 5-6lbs as the seller claimed? Besides possibly an I/C, am I completely missing anything else?

I understand the "you might blow it up without 'XYZ' additional parts" situation... this setup is going on a higher mileage 1.6, and I have a 55K 1.6 spare in the garage... so I can take a chance for now to get some boost... and if I do blow the ---- up... at least I'm not SOL for good.haha

Also... another reason I'd like to find more info on this turbo is... there's just a pinch of shaft play. It doesn't touch, but if I can track down info on it, I should prob rebuild it while it's out.

it definitely a GT28XX trim size. Judging by the size of the compressor housing, im going to say 2871. You'd have to measure it, or I bet if you call Corky/Tim at Begi they would probably remember modifying that manifold and what turbo it was for.


that's an odd footprint that the manifold was modded for, does the turbine housing match it? DSM footprint maybe.
