Default Where to buy Garrett GT2560

After much reading I have decided to go with a garrett gt2560 to replace my current turbo on my begi S1 kit. I have been looking for used but not sure i am patient enough to wait for the right used turbo to come up.

Where is the best prices on the GT2560. I have read where people say they heard a friend of a friend of a roommate was able to pick one up for $750 but I can not find this low of a price online.

If anyone has a super secret site that has this price or a lower price than the $1150 from begi I would appreciate it.

I am also in the process of sending my broken turbo into where I bought it so it is possible it could be repaired. I am just trying to be proactive so when i hear back I can pull the trigger and get the miata back on the road.

Edit : i have seen prices on ebay for $750 and some sites for $850. might be the best route. Just figured I would ask opinions if someone had a great vendor they used.

EDIT #2 : i searched terms = garrett pricing, new garrett, garrett cost, price turbo, new price, 2560 price. without the answer I was looking for.

+1. I've done some business with Titan in the past and everything was great.

I would go the 466541-4 over the cheaper 466541-1, the nickel housing and inconel turbine wheel are worth the extra $$$ imo.

The 2560 is basically identical to the OEM T28 turbo from a Nissan S15. Depending on how patient/frugal you're feeling, you can cruise the classifieds on some of the nissan forums for a used one. They'd pop up every couple of weeks on sr20forum, zilvia.net or nicoclub and $400-600 seemed to be the range for those when I was looking.

I got the S15 turbo brand new on ebay for about $700 shipped. The only differences are the compressor inlet/outlets are flanged, and the turbine housing is supposed to be made of something more durable.

My concern and maybe unneeded is with the differences will it mount to the begi header and downpipe? Is there modding I would need to do to the turbo to get it to work?

I know I have to get something welded on the air intake side to get it to work.

The less work the better. I am still working on getting my old turbo off and it has been over a week.

The exhaust side is exactly the same, so it should work with your begi stuff. (It works fine with my begi-replacement stuff)

For the cold side, they sell fittings that bolt to the flanges and are just hose fittings. I think this is what I used.

Thanks guys! i will look into the T28. I get so worried about buying used. I know nothing is guaranteed.. my new china turbo lasted less than 1000 miles so new did not help me there.

I am having a hell of a time getting the old turbo off. I can not get to the bolts. I think when i put it on I had the header lose and ended up having to put the turbo and dp in all at one time. I can not seem to get these things off as easily as some.

Are you trying to pull the turbo off of the manifold or are you pulling the turbo/manifold off of the car in one piece? I'd recommend the latter approach.

nickt93 - yeah I was trying to remove it from the manifold and the dp. it looks like you are going to be right about having to remove the turbo/manifold and in this case the DP all in one piece then remove them on the bench. It ends up being quite a few more parts to get off the car. That is a big reason the next turbo I get I want to do my best to get one that will hold up.

I think like all of us we could all use more hours in the day to work on the cars. It seems like I just get started wrenching before i have to quit. It is what it is.. I will eventualy get it off.

Which bolt is giving you trouble getting to? I know when I had to pull my old chinacharger off my car, I had to pull off the front housing to get it to clear everything.

I can not get to the bottom right bolt on where the turbo mounts to the mani. and the bottom closest to the engine on the DP. basicly I just do not have enough room for the wrench to get in there.

Just not easy to get in there. I might get some shorty wrenches to see if i can get it. if not off with the manifold and DP.

Get a shorty wrench. I have a set of Gear Wrench shorty wrenches and they are worth their weight in gold.

FWIW, when I ordered my GT2560 (in 2010), the two versions had identical wholesale prices. The lead time on the non-Inconel version was longer. Not sure why anyone would order that one.
