Default 1.6 Wannabe MK T3 Auto VirtualDyno *cam gear + 5spd cam update

Reason I have an automatic long block is that it was the only engine in the junkyard and mine was blowing heavy smoke. It is well documented that power drops off after 5.5k rpm with an automatic. I read about this, but almost 40rwtq is crazy.

I primarily wanted to get data to see the gains when I install a manual intake cam and adjustable cam gear. The tune was still a little rich up top. Running Braineacks timing map included on the DIYPNP.

Even though I am in different gears I did the 3rd gear pulls on one stretch of road and the 4th gear pulls on a different road. Either way data was good.

I also raced my friends LS1 Camaro and 1st and 2nd gear I would stay ahead a bit, but once in 3rd he would come around hard. I am hoping the cam helps. More boost after tuning the cam and maybe a little ethanol.

Setup:
DIY Log Manifold
T3 Chinacharger, boost controlled by wastegate 10psi
2.5" DP
3" exhaust to knockoff Magnaflow, sounds like a Subie
CX Racing Intercooler
2" intercooler piping

Is my torque curve any better than comparable manual 1.6? Do I got the torques? Will the cam swap make more power up top?

I'm around 160ft/lbs at 3K on 9psi according to VD, peak ~185 at 4700 that holds to around 5800-6000...

I lost my VD plot, it's in imgur land somewhere.

Dammit. I suck at this. Our setups are pretty much the same except for the compression difference and cams. I am at 9.5 psi@3kish, the 10psi is from creep I believe.

post up a log
it's gotta be running low timing to make such low power. but then it is a 1.6 so who knows
also is the timing sync'd correctly?

Timing sync as in doing the 10 degree and doing the offset? Here is the log.Log also has VE and Ign maps.

looks about right, next time start to log before 2K so we can see the spoolup.

I was at ~215/215 hp/tq on a dyno dynamics at 13psi.

but your low-end looks better due to your intake cam--boosted 1.6L auto-blocks have a much better TQ curve. Much smoother power delivery.

My loaded timing map is VERY conservative and you should run more boost :P

The master has spoken. Notes taken. Will play with timing when fuel is dialed in.

actually your timing is about what I'd be at around 9-10psi.

The map was based off my own table, so it's pretty safe without pushing it. (basically 1° per psi)

Got the 5-speed intake cam in and the cam gear adjusted to -3. GAINZZ. I am very happy. Losses down low were either barely noticeable or non existent. Data is a little less good, but there were obviously gains. Holds 20-25+- rwtq more at the top.

Before re-tuning I tried driving on the same map and went 13.0 on the afrs compared to the old 11.8ish

Tomorrow I will be trying -6 and maybe -10 if I get to it. 200 should be achievable at this boost level.

That looks much closer to my curve, glad I passed on the auto block I found a while back lol

If you go into virtual dyno settings, then the columns and profiles tab, you can add "boost_PSI" next to the boost column to get it to plot boost right.

Edit: found one of my plots in my build thread, this is what the boost plot can look like. This was wastegate can only, no EBC.

yes, please go back and add the boost plots, and final timing, for each back...
