Well... Engagement is a little shuddery and grabby, but manageable. I just hope it holds power a little bit longer than the organic disc. We will see how the launch goes, next race.
Yeah, those guys at 949 SuperMiata are awesome!
That clutch works great, not like I added any new pedal pressure, just a little grabbier.
Went to Vegas and raced for team Sonoma. Had a work trip in San Diego that ended the day before the last day of practice rounds at Vegas. Rented a POS CVT Rogue, had to deep stage that thing to cut a decent light. Maybe with a bit more practice I could get it down. Last pass I was still trying to creep forward by releasing the brake pedal with my left foot, and the light was green by the time I was staged, so I just went. Still had a fun time.
So glad to be home and back in a real car. I think that might be my fastest trap speed at Sonoma, I know I went 126 at Sac on the last Wednesday ever there, but not here. I spun like crazy off the line and tried to catch my buddy Mark, obviously I was trying pretty hard to catch him since I almost went 126.
He's a good racer, look at that .014 light on my ***, spun 3 tenths, I didn't have a chance.
Owned the tree tonight, as I was told by my friends. Got to run a Plaid Tesla on the second pass, unusual to run a faster car. Spun pretty bad on the elimination round, but my opponent broke out .002, thanks buddy! Unfortunately after that the light rain arrived and we were shut down. Still happy to have been able to make a few passes. Tried a new gentle launch to see if I could get a better dial for when it cools down, jury's still out since I still spun in elimination.
Supposedly there is a new stick shift class at the bracket races in Redding. Might have to start making the pilgrimage for some money racing.
The timeslip girl gave me a hard time for going too fast Mark went red so I thought, I should run it out not too bright. Gotta keep this POS over 11.50. Patrick took me out in the blue Challenger, it was close, we were both on the brakes, that was a fun race. He went on to win the night.
There was a hood on the track for my 2nd pass, slowest trap speed ever
Ok, finally went a few rounds against the automatics, and actually won something other than a trophy. I won a tech card for free entry in sportsman tomorrow Ran 11's all day until I spun 2nd, which caught me by surprise, tried to short 2nd to 3rd and missed
Thanks Ed! You guys sure make it easy to go fast.
An amazing night yesterday. I got to make 13 passes. All 11's baby! Because "This one goes to 11!"
Didn't get a timeslip for the first pass because we started before she arrived. I think the most I had made was 11 passes that night it was so hot at Sacramento.
Took too much stripe on my last pass in the 1/4 finals.
Another fun night, made it all the way to the final round this time. Me and Steve in the black Mustang for the final. His .031 light to my .030, I reeled him in quick and let off, but still broke out 2 tenths. I need to remember not to try and make up time if I don't spin, difficult to make good decisions in 11 seconds.
Might need to get my butt up to Redding one of these days.
Also noticed this on the left rear when I had the car up. Not sure what I should do, I think this boot is supposed to be free on top. Wonder if I can score a spare from the good folks at SM?
Yeah, we've seen some rear orange boots get soft and tear like that, sorry about that. We'll send you some velcro covers so you don't have to worry about taking the shock off or anything, just throw the cover over the top.
You guys are too good to me. Big thanks to you and the whole SM 949 Racing crew Ed! No need for any apologies here. I had almost forgotten about the torn boot when I got an email with tracking info.
Well I made the pilgrimage to Samoa, got to the e85 in Eureka with a quarter tank to spare from Healdsburg, 200 miles. So I dumped my 5 gallon jug in and made 5 passes, then filled up, 26mpg on e85. Yes I added the 5 gallons when I calculated my mileage. I think I made my quickest pass today, off throttle at the top. Definitely my best 60', a freakin' 1.6 2nd pass today.
Back again tomorrow, I am still in in Sportsman, but the fog shut us down.
Oops, 6 passes before I calculated mileage. Looks like I would have run 11.3 if I'd stayed in it, but the launch felt too good, and I didn't want to get kicked out right away, no one said anything.
Totally the additional damping from the boots
We raced for redwood Wally's yesterday and real Wally's today. We made the last passes from yesterday's race, this morning. I was in the 1/4 finals for the sportsman redwood Wally, and I was 3rd for the Pro E.T. Wally today. I went pretty far against the pro automatics. Unfortunately, no prizes for 3rd or semi finals at this event, only Wally's for first and trophys for 2nd.
Definitely made it so far today because of Barron's good luck Thanks Man!
Calculated my mileage today and got 10.9mpg with 8 passes and a short drive from Eureka to Samoa, about what I'd expect.
This was a super fun event, might try to make it again next year.
First 2 slips were this morning continued from yesterday.
Same here
Another fun night yesterday. Eliminated myself with a double oh 2 Roxanne red light. That's ok, my opponent went on to win the night, his first win ever so he was stoked.
Well, I didn't win either Wally... But was quicker than ever before, in the crazy heat, 96F or some ****. Might need a thread title change Should have stayed in it at Samoa last weekend. Quickest pass yet.
Had a blast today and got to hang with a bunch of my good friends, even if I was out right away in both classes.
I hope they let us drag race here forever!
I took the GTX picture for a friend, but thought some of us might like it.
